Sorry to say, it's not looking good for tomorrow.

I'll try again later in the week after I get a handle on my schedule.

Ride from Montauk June 9th

Submitted by DHudes on Fri, 06/07/2013 - 2:47pm

The weather forecast looks excelent for LI's East End this Sunday...and lots of rain for Saturday.

There is still room on my Ride from Montauk http://nycc.org/node/62806

Note that we won't have a *BBQ* dinner in Dix Hills but we will have dinner -- Mom will probably buy food at Bagel Boss / Deli Boss and we'll hang out in the backyard and eat. If you want to take a quick swim, bring a swim suit.

N.B. Hardcore participants interested in riding back to NYC from Dix Hills note that I have a separate cue sheet for that. Several, actually.

Piermont/Muffin run alternatives

Submitted by edeuser on Fri, 06/07/2013 - 12:35pm

I'm wondering if you all might have suggestions for an alternative to the typical Piermont "muffin run".  Now that I'm back on a structured training program a lot of my weekend workouts are 2-4 hour "endurance" rides where I need to stay in my zone with minimal stopping.  I'm really getting sick of 9W or 501 to/from Piermont and want to get off the beaten path.  I’ve been browsing the ride library but haven’t really found anything that fits the bill (yet).

Here's what I'm looking for:

Ye who ride to and from the GWB, help (a) is, or (b) may be on the way

From today's Streetsblog--and shame covers those of you who don't read it daily:

__________

Responding to years of citizen advocacy and a resolution from Manhattan Community Board 12, DOT has proposed bike lanes for a number of streets in Upper Manhattan.

Most of the lanes, concentrated in Washington Heights [PDF], would be installed next year, after a consultation with CB 12 this fall. One would be protected by parked cars.

Sir Lance of the Dopers

Dude, can't help himself.

I have a small (albeit passionate) blog that some of you here have kindly visited once or twice when I put up cycling-related posts or videos (it's mostly a running blog).

Not sure why it hit me yesterday, but I was thinking about Lance and what a fool I was to belive him all those years and Tweeted a link to the post I wrote after he went on Oprah (http://bit.ly/LyingLance). I even Tweeted at him in the hopes he would read it.
