Majoy Taylor Iron Riders' "Legends Ride 125 Montauk" Sunday, 8/18

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Mon, 08/12/2013 - 2:22pm

I signed up for the Major Taylor Iron Riders’ “The Legends Ride Montauk 125” this Sunday, 8/18.  Ride leaves for Montauk Point from Prospect Park at 6:00 AM Sunday morning; they ask participants to be there at 5:30 AM - Ouch!

If anyone else signed up for the ride and would like company riding to Prospect Park at that horrible hour - let me know.   I’ll be leaving the upper West Side about 4:30 AM – Ouch.   Could meet you pretty much anywhere between the Upper West Side and the Brooklyn Bridge.

NJ slow to make fixes for bike traffic on Route 9W

"When it comes to providing safety for the thousands of bicyclists on Route 9W — the scenic Hudson River highway that is among the most popular routes in the nation for cyclists — the wheels of state government are turning ever so slowly as accidents continue to mount."

Paceline Skills

Submitted by Smgolub on Mon, 08/12/2013 - 7:10am

I'm a B rider who wants to try an A ride and after looking on the Upcoming Rides I found 6 rides that say:

Ride 1: "A-SIG or equivalent paceline skills"
Ride 2: "Solid pacelining skills and safe and cooperative riding are a must"
Ride 3: "Pace Lining skills are a must"
Ride 4: "for riders with steady paceline skills, A-SIG or equivalent a must"
Ride 5: "for experienced riders with A-SIG or equivalent skills"
Ride 6: "For experienced riders with steady paceline ability, A-SIG or equivalent skills a must"

I definitly understand the need for these rider requirements.

3 Questions:

1) How does one develop paceline skills without doing an A-SIG?

Upcoming Changes to Ride Signups

Submitted by nyccadmin on Sat, 08/10/2013 - 5:10pm

All,

In response to some of the concerns related to members signing up for multiple concurrent rides, the Board has agreed on the following changes, which will be implemented over the coming weeks.

It was really good to see a proper biker at this Hamptons event. This was not a bicycle event, but Bentley and Monte Grappa fans do need to know about high quality bicycles.

Here is another photo of the event, unfortunately not a picture of Michael.

Hello? Check your ride sign-ups.

Submitted by JFinder on Fri, 08/09/2013 - 11:32am

As of 11:31 today, there's at least one NYCC member signed up for two different rides tomorrow morning.

Please give your NYCC commitments the same courtesy and attention you give the other commitments in your life.

After Nyack I'll be heading north to the Bear Mountain Bridge and then to Peekskill. If anyone is interested in a well deserved beer at the Peekskill Brewery before catching the train back to NYC let me know.
