Looking for a ride route near Stratton or Okemo Vermont

Submitted by RKahn on Sat, 08/17/2013 - 12:05pm

All,

I am heading to Vermont to pick up my daughter from camp next weekend, and will have enough time to head out for a ride. Her camp is in Weston, but anything in the area will be fine (Ludlow, Chester).  I'm looking for a 50-100 mile route, including some hills (shouldn't be too hard to find in VT).  You can send Strava links, Map My Ride, Google Maps, whatever.

Thanks in advance!

Police parked there pulling you over for not making full stop at stop sign. They are giving tickets to everyone.

NYCC/Rapha clubhouse

Submitted by MGately on Fri, 08/16/2013 - 7:09am

There's been talk on other threads of an NYCC clubhouse at an "undisclosed location," but it sounds like Rapha has one in the works, for which it now seeks three staffers: http://www.rapha.cc/work-at-rapha#job26

I have my eye on the "New York Cycle Club - Barista" job. Many thanks to the NYCC board for forging this exciting partnership!

Besides the Peekskill brewery, what places do you like for an end-of-ride beer/bite? Anyone tried The Quiet Man Public House, for example?

Women bike racers, or women who want to be bike racers, or women who’d like to learn more about bike racing, or women who want to get real fast on their  bike, take a look.  A little background on Lance Leener.

dispelling a myth

from a nationally known mechanic: I need to take a moment to dispel the myth that’s out there that it’s mandatory to replace your cassette when you replace your chain. That’s not true. You only need to replace a cassette if the cogs are worn out and they skip. In other words, a new chain will work fine on an older cassette, just so long as it isn’t worn out.

VIsitor from UK - Escape New York

Submitted by johnpears on Thu, 08/15/2013 - 6:17am

Hi folks,

Me and a few friends from the club I cycle with, Crawley Wheelers in the south east of UK, are heading 'over the pond' to ride the 100-mile Escape New York!

I sent Carrie a message to find out if there are any social meetups after the event in the evening, which there aren't, but suggested I should post here to see if anyone was interested? Our most probable post-event will be drinking beer and indulging in bad food, so if anyone has recommendations on where best to do this, or would like to join us, than it would be great to hear from you! Or if anyone has plans already, would you mind us joining? :)
