This is also a bike path. Correct me if I am wrong. You know, some people feel I have a hard time differentiating between the 2.

Bike MS 2014?

Submitted by clairehanselmann on Thu, 10/02/2014 - 1:26pm

Anyone doing Bike MS on Sunday and want to join me?  This will be my first Century, so I'm probably not your speed demon companion.  I'm probably a low A rider.  I'm also willing to do the 55 miler to get to the beer tent faster if anyone perfers that route. Best, Claire

Upper Manhattan Evening Commuter Buddy (C rider)

Submitted by mezzpezz on Thu, 10/02/2014 - 12:36pm

Thought I'd take a shot at seeing if any folks here commute between uptown (Washington Heights/Inwood) and midtown area. I've biked ~2 days a week over the summer, but now the days are shorter.  I'd feel safer to ride with someone along the greenway, espcially areas where there is no exit point in case something happens.

I know there are groups that meet in the mornings, but I'm specifically looking for an evening group/partner.

Thanks!

Cassette Change

Submitted by vinlaw on Wed, 10/01/2014 - 4:57pm

Folks,

I am changing my cassette from a 12-27 to a 12-29. (Yeah I know)!

Should I anticipate any problems with chain length or is it just a simple cassette swap out?

Thanks.

New A ride for Sunday: Up and Over Bear Mountain

Submitted by DHudes on Wed, 10/01/2014 - 3:32pm

Join me for a moderately quick pace ride to the top of Perkins then down the other side of Perkins and back up.

The weather forecast for Sunday is clear and cool. Expect that the temperature at the top of Bear Mountain when we get there will be about 61F, while the temperature at our start at the Eleanor Roosevelt Statue shortly after dawn is 50F. So a day of layers....

In the event it is needed, you can get a train bailout at Spring Valley. Our return route passes very near the station.

Please note:

Due to inclement weather, the D&R Canal Overnight event has been cancelled.

There will be a one-day D&R Canal ride on Sunday, October 5th:  http://nycc.org/node/72838

The Sunday ride is open to anyone who wants to join.  >> hint <<

The overnight version will likely be rescheduled in the Spring.
