B-STS - Week 2 Is Being Rescheduled!

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Fri, 03/13/2015 - 9:48am
Week 2 Is Being Rescheduled!
The plan now is to head out Sunday, March 15. This ride is now optional as per the program policies.

YOU MUST RSVP FOR THE RESCHEDULED RIDE USING THIS FORM: http://goo.gl/forms/UBbwlp3CY3

We will now use two trains and have a cutoff of 15 people per train. I need you to confirm your attendance, as we do not have an existing MNRR setup for Sunday (and we are inconveniencing them)

Everything else is the same. And if you can't make it, I still strongly request you complete an "equivalent ride" to make up for it!

Hi Everyone,

I know we will be stopping for lunch throughout the season during our rides. Do we need to get locks for our bikes?

Thanks!

Survey of Interest: a "Montauk" club ride, May 30

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Thu, 03/12/2015 - 12:31pm

We are currently looking into the possiblity of having a club ride to Montauk on May 30th. We'd like to know if people are interested.

There are details in the survey description, but we would like to do this in a way where we can take a large group of people (40+) and have them return to Manhattan the same night - for this, we'd have to arrange some private transport facilities.

Note: This ride in no way resembles the charity or commercially-run rides to Montauk produced by third-party organizations. The concept is to plan a workable NYCC club ride with Montauk as the one-way destination, and it will be mostly like other everyday NYCC member-planned club rides on the ride calendar.

Problems sending messages from @aol.com email addresses

Submitted by nyccadmin on Wed, 03/11/2015 - 3:09pm

Hey Folks,

We've recentlynoticed that attempting to contact other members fails if either user has an @aol.com email address.  It appears that AOL has made some security changes in an effort to reduce spam traveling to/from @aol.com email addresses. We're looking into whether we can find ways to work around this, but this may be a good time to consider looking into using another email address for your NYCC account.

We'll keep you posted as we undercover more information.

Bikes at Port Authority Bus Terminal?

Submitted by isaacb on Tue, 03/10/2015 - 9:57pm

I'm contemplating bringing a bike 1-way to NYC via public transit and one of my options is Greyhound to Port Authority (40th Street). PA's FAQ states that bicycles are not allowed through the terminal. Is anyone familiar with how this works in practice. Assuming I don't box or bag my my bike, can I expect to be ticketed or arrested? Is the worst that I can expect is to be asked to leave the terminal with the bike (all I plan to do anyway), or can I be forced back on the bus? Thanks.
