GWB Safe Access - YOU can help
NOTE: Since I first posted this I've learned that the DOT already recognizes the seriousness of this issue and is working toward a solution. Therefore, we don't need to flood them with messages. But I thought I'd leave this post up so you can see what a lobbying campaign might look like.
Our best bet with regard to safe access to the North Walk is to get the DOT to install safe cycling infrastructure at the intersection of Ft. Washington & 179th St., including repaving that block from 178th to 179th, painting clear lanes, making a left turn only lane and installing an advance left turn arrow in the traffic light. Improved lighting would be a bonus, but I suspect that would be way beyond the budget.

Ft Washington Ave above 168 will be closed on the morning of Sunday, 3/5
This Sunday is the annual Washington Heights 5K race, and Fort Washington will be completely closed from about 8am till 11am north of 168th. I think there’s a chance you could walk your bike on the sidewalk, but it might be frustrating. The race starts at 9, so the area will be the most busy from about 8:40 till 9:40.
Where Have All the Rides and Ride Leaders Gone?
When looking at the ride listings every week, I ask myself where have all the ride leaders gone?

B-STS Time Trial
I'm a new member and trying to find the information on the Prospect Park time trial. When I went to the orientation session, I recall having to sign-up for this. I don't see it in the Calendar of rides. When is it? And where exactl do I have to be, who am I meeting with to time me... etc. Would like to know a few more details about what to do as a new member.
Thanks,
Drew

Sad news about Caryl Baron
Caryl Baron, widow of Steve Baron, both past members of NYCC, died last week of surgery complications. If anyone is interested, there will be a memorial gathering for her this coming Saturday afternoon. Details are pending but I will post them as soon as I get them from Judy Goldberg.
The funeral is tomorrow, Wednesday, 2/22/23, at 2pm. I believe it's at the Greenwood Cemetery but check with Judy if you wish to attend.
Caryl Was one of the first people I met in this Club and she was warm and welcoming as was her husband, Steve.
RIP Caryl.
