Ride Check-In requirement?
Today I received the NYCC newsletter with the announcement of a new format for the Club's website.
Among the "innovations" being contemplated is a feature where riders already listed as attending an upcoming ride will have to "check-in" at some point during the 24-hour period preceding the ride start.
Yes, you know -- in the same fashion where first you go on-line to buy an airplane ticket and even though you're "booked" you then have to go back to the airline's website to obtain your boarding pass during that 24-hour pre-flight period.
More Opportunity to ride
I am getting back to cycling and using it as part of my training for long races. I am not ready for the b group but was hoping to ride with the c group but there are not enough rides listed on NYCC. I would hate to have to join another club. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Suraia
Specialized Turbo Cotton Clincher Tires
Anyone have any experience with these? I tried the similar Compass / Rene Herse tires: heavenly ride, but too many flats.

Weekend in Lancaster, PA (Out of Bounds)
Our friends at Morris Area Freewheelers are inviting particpants to their 8th Annual Roy's Penn Dutch Weekend - Jun 23-25, 2023.
It's organized similar to our own Weekend in Berkshires.—you arrange your own transportation, meals and housing. And it will cost you $30 to join the Freewheelers.
Here's the 2023 details and a video of the 2022 Weekend.
Wall Mount Recs
Does anyone have any recommendations for wall mounts that they like for road bike storage in an apartment?
My partner and I have decided that a 'pile of bikes' is not the best use of our limited apartment floor space.
I apologize if this was covered already in a recent post.

Hub rubber dust cap lube?
My "new" bike (a barely-used 2006 road bike) appears to need some lube where the hub dust covers slide against the hub. Various sources in the internets say, "lube", "wet lube" or "grease." Any thoughts on pros & cons of the various? Bike lives in a dusty, salty environment. Thanks.
Routes to the GWB North Path
The north path over the GW Bridge is scheduled to open on Tuesday, February 14. Once it’s open, the south path will likely be closed to cyclists and possibly to everyone.
The entrance to the north path is now on Cabrini Blvd. at the base of 180th St. Since 180th St. is one-way going east, to access the path coming north on Ft. Washington Ave. you’ll make a left onto 179th and at the bottom bear right onto Cabrini for one block. Coming off the path, returning from NJ, you’ll go straight up 180th St. to Ft. Washington Ave.
