Looking for a Few Early Morning Cyclists
Seeking a few cyclists for weekday early morning rides around Central Park two or three times a week, or occasionally a ride up or down the Greenway. This is NOT a Club ride, so NYCC insurance will NOT apply, and cyclists need not be members.
We will ride at about an NYCC C13/C14 and do two laps (+/- 12 miles), starting between 6:00 am and 7:30 am, and the whole ride should take about an hour. Meeting at the East 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue entrance to the Park would be the most convenient, but anybody can join or drop at any point.
With two or three cyclists in total, we will need to confirm the evening before that at least two can meet in the morning; if we grow into a regular larger group, we can apply to make this a Club ride.
Power Bars
I recently bought two boxes of Powerbars (peanut) from Perfromace Bike. I noticed this weekend that the wrapper stated it si made from partially genetic manufactureing. I never saw this before and I have eating them for years.
Accident/emergency in the Minnewaska region yesterday, Sunday?
I was cycling west on 44/55 past the Trapps towards Ellenville and one emergency vehicle after another went by going east.
Anyone on the New Paltz weekend have an idea what was going on?
Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless - thumbs mostly up
After spending maybe an hour trying and failing to successfully inflate a new Hutchinson Fusion 3 tubeless tire on my front rim, I decided to try something a bit different. I've read positive reviews of the Schwalbe Pro One tubeless tire, so I ordered a pair of those. They were a real pleasure to put on the rims. It was almost as easy as putting on regular clinchers. SO MUCH EASIER than fighting the Fusion 3 tubeless! The ride is very comfy - just as nice as the Fusion 3 tubeless.
I did 2 rides with no sealant. Then, when I got home, the front tire had gone soft. There was a tiny pinhole leak in the tire. I put an ounce of Stans sealant into the tire, and since then it's been fine.
MTA eTix, you can now buy tickets for the Hudson line on your cellphone
I just found out about it today by picking out a flyer stuck between my seat and its back on a Hudson line train.
The other 2 lines will be online in the next few months, or so it is projected.
Like current MTA tickets, and unlike NJ Transit, the tickets expire in 2 months if unused. However, the assumption is that you can buy the ticket with the app on the train. One can do this with NJ Transit, a big advantage over breezing on the train and not having a ticket, thus avoiding the surcharge.
