...and the unstated price of the ENY jersey is...?

Submitted by RRosenthal on Mon, 09/05/2016 - 10:42am

OK, to be truthful, I have no interest in buying the ENY jersey, but I am interested in its cost. You'd think by clicking on its image on our Website, or on the ENY page that pictures it, you'd learn its cost. You'd be wrong.  That's privileged information for which you are obliged to first sign-in to Verge, the jersey's manufacturer. I assume once you've surrendered your e-address, they divulge the price. Do you think, once they've harvested your information and you're in their system, that just maybe you'll hear from them...again and again? All this just to learn the price of the jersey? Unh-uh.

Is there a NYCC (B) group riding the NYC TA Century

(together) Saturday, or any interest in one?

Hunt's Point Bike path

Submitted by EJacobs on Sun, 09/04/2016 - 2:26pm

Dear all,

I was biking through Hunt's Point yesterday, and there is a new multi-use bike/pedestrian path. It looks brand new and very nice, but it only goes for a short distance along Food Center Drive-- hardly a pedestrian/bike thoroughfare. In fact, it goes from nowhere to nowhere. (Oh, and it directly abuts several bus stops, so watch out for peds waiting for the bus or exiting the bus drifting into your path.)

Anyone have any insight as to why the city built the damn thing in such an industrial area when so many other more densely inhabited places in the Bronx (not to mention the other four boros) are crying out for better bike facilities?

  I'm mystified.

Transportation to/from Morristown for NJ Grand Fondo

Submitted by RRGilbert on Sat, 09/03/2016 - 8:35pm

I will be driving there Saturday afternoon in time for the dinner and am staying at the Westin Governer Morris.  I was planning on the 107, but will most likely do the 75.  I can take 2-3 others depending on how compact you want your bikes on my rack.  You don't have to be staying at the Westin, but somewhere close would be nice.  Let me know if you would like a ride.  I am leaving from Brooklyn, but will be traveling via Manhattan.

Volunteers needed for NYCC signature event - Escape New York

Submitted by Hudson Hartmann on Sat, 09/03/2016 - 3:00pm

Now it is easier than ever to volunteer - just go to the sticky at the top of the message board, and follow the link that Sam has posted! He and his people have been working diligently to make this year better than ever, so let's volunteer to help out. Lots of positions still needed.

River Road Speed Trap set up today for cyclists on decent/hill by Snack Shack boat basin (not Alpine hill).

PIP had radar gun aimed uphill at southbound cyclists decending steep "brick wall" decent by boat basin.

They were tickeing cyclists and not cars for speeding from what I could see. Thank goodness one of the 6-7 cyclists heading north warned me (the other 5-6 said nothing :( ) just prior to deceing the hill.

Escape NY volunteer

I have always volunteered for the Escape NY ride, but there was some snafu and I believe they lost all the names.  I would still like to volunteer, but I do not know who to contact as the "Escape NY" link does not get back to me. Please help: [email protected].
