Southern California Cycling Camp, Feb 26 - March 3.

Submitted by FLeffel on Tue, 11/22/2016 - 5:10pm
For the past couple of years I've organized a cycling camp in Southern California for NYCCer's, their family and friends. Five days of riding and coaching towards the end of winter, right before the start of our spring cycling season. I'm soliciting preliminary interest to see if we'll have enough folks to do the trip again this year.

The camp is run by Cycling Camp of San Diego (CCSD).

Route Recommendation - GWB>River Rd.>Alpine>Ramsey, NJ

Submitted by ninagski on Mon, 11/21/2016 - 1:35pm

I'm spending Thanksgiving in Ramsey, NJ and I would like to ride there - then I can justify consuming all those delicious calories!

I'd like to ride up River Rd. up to Alpine and then cut west.  Can anyone suggest a good route, or Ride w/GPS link, from Alpine to the Ramsey train station? (Station Plaza & Main St. 1/2 mile off Franklin Turnpike)

Hello. When do these start this season? I noticed ROBO laps are done next week, but no sign of FOBO (tear, tear).

Thanks!

Shoe Recommendation - Wide toe Box

Any recommendations of cycling shoes with Wide Toe Box?

A paper helmet as good as a foam one?

Submitted by JTom on Thu, 11/17/2016 - 6:58pm

The helmet is made of heavy-grade paper assembled in a honeycomb pattern. It comes folded up, but fans out when it's used and has the strength of a standard bike helmet.

I for one would like to see independent lab results validating impact protection is comparable to standard foam helmets before unfolding one on my head.

Tire Giveaway

Submitted by CWaaser on Thu, 11/17/2016 - 5:04pm

Before I throw them out (or give them to RAB), does anyone have use for four never used Continental Grand Prix tires in the odd size of 650X20C? They're still in their original boxes and should still be like new, but they've been sitting around for a few years. Contact me thru my little email icon.

9W Cleanup - EPILOGUE

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Mon, 11/14/2016 - 6:21pm

Civic duty?  No way, I call that a party.  25 NYCC members gathering to clean up schmutz alongside one of our most popular routes.  Then to come together for a group lunch.  I got to ride with people I hardly ever ride with, gab with people I hardly ever gab with, meet people I’ve never met before.  And. . . make a mile of 9W the prettiest mile of them all.  Call that civic duty?

Hey Gerald Ross, you and your partner Peter Storey, thanks for making a great party for all of us.
