Walking our bikes across the GW Bridge
I don’t want to start a kerfuffle here. My only objective is to calm some worried souls, those who think we’ll be walking our bikes across the GW Bridge in the near future. I do not believe any current member of the NYCC will be walking their bikes across the GW Bridge as a matter of course. Or their children. Or their grandchildren.
Here’s why;
Meetings at Port Authority.
I have been to the offices of the Port Authority a number of times over the past 14 months speaking with a number of senior officials and others about bicycle access to the bridge. Generally, our conversations are about enhancing bicycle access, about safely accommodating cyclists across the bridge.
Why Steve McDonald should be memorialized on our message board
He was shot—and became a paraplegic—in seeking to question three boys in Central Park about the theft of a bicycle.
There are more, far, far more important reasons to honor this policeman than this, but at the very least this should be noted by our bike club.

Google Maps & RWGPS problems
Can anyone tell me what's going on with Google Street View? It keeps coming up with a black screen instead of the street image. If no one else is having trouble with it, I'll assume it's some setting in Chrome on my computer.
Also, as of today, RWGPS seems to have decided the Port Authority has already made the GW Bridge north path the cyclist path and the south path for pedestrians only. I had to set it for walking in order to route over the south path. When set for cycling, it would only route me over the north path. Very odd!
An amusing predicament :-)

Somebody's Always Faster Than You ... (actually, it's an art show)
Club member Alex Ostroy will be having a show of his cycling-related art work at the Rapha store, 159 Prince Street, on February 2. The show is appropriately titled "Somebody's Always Faster Than You."
From the Rapha website:
