Daylight on a full width bike path on the GW Bridge reconstruction?
On today's Brian Lehrer show, Neile asked Democrat candidate for Governor of New Jersey Phil Murphy, if elected would he support a bike path on the GW Bridge renovation built to full width.
Yes he would. And he went on to say how important cycling is to our region.
Well done Neile!
When is it too rainy to ride?
Thoughts? Tomorrow looks like a washout, but with GFNY coming next week, makes me wonder whether or not I should tough it out and get in the miles anyway.
Berkshire Weekend - Need Travel Suggestions For Friday Evening/Night Arrival.
NYCC peeps,
I don't own a car and can't leave early from work to ride with everyone Friday. Any suggestions as to how to get up there? I can't leave work until 5pm (and Metro North doesn't allow bikes until after 8pm).
Thoughts?
Cheers,
RV

GFNY Sunday, May 21st, Hudson Terrace and Road Closure Information
Following is information on how to navigate around the closure of Hudson Terrace during the Gran Fondo New York on Sunday, May 21st. I have received this information from Uli Fluhme—co-founder and co-organizer of the event.
First, the south sidewalk of the GWB is not affected in any way by the GF—and is open all day to everyone.
However, all of Hudson Terrace is closed to cyclists and vehicles both directions all day from the exit of the GWB to Palisades Avenue. Also, Henry Hudson Drive (River Road) is closed until 5pm.
To get around the closure of Hudson Terrace:
AFTER 8:00AM, take Bruce Reynolds Blvd to Lemoine Avenue/9W and proceed north.
CP Precinct Community Council meeting - NOTES
At Christy's behest I have been attending the bi-monthly CP Precinct Community Council meetings.
Takeaways from the meeting last night -
1. Captain Andrea continues to emphasize his primary goal is that all users need to share the park. He won't (and can't) give the OK to go through red lights, but his main concern is that we, all cyclists that is, watch out for the safety of pedestrians and not blow by them in crosswalks.
2. Good Morning America's Friday morning concerts start on May 19th so watch out on the lower loop approaching 72nd on the east side early Friday mornings.

Brilliant: create a law, which when broken produces more revenue than the law
From today's NY Times:
"Next year, the city expects to collect $631 million in parking fines, up 15 percent from 2014; the haul from fines is three times as much as what the city gets from legal parking at meters."
Bike rental in Venice
Can anyone recommend a good bike shop to rent from in Venice? I will need a good bike for some serious climbs and distance.
Thanks
