Late ride listing

Submitted by RWechsler on Fri, 11/10/2017 - 10:48pm

I’ve just submitted a 63 mile B-17 Long Island ride for Sunday (Nov 12).

Not yet approved, so not in ride listings yet.

Email me if you’re interested.

Work off all that food by joining the 23rd annual NYCC climb over a couple of small mountains in Harriman State Park.

Report on the Central Park Precinct Community Council Meeting 11/8/2017

I've been a busy guy. . . . what am I thinking?  I'm running "unopposed" for office in 2018 -  I can just sit back and collect my salary.  I better stop drinking whiskey - it's making my brain soft . . .

Went to the Central Park Precinct Community Council Meeting last night – really great experience!

Re: New Protected Bike Lanes in Eastern Queens

Hello! Transportation Alternatives and the Eastern Queens Greenway activist group have been working hard to improve the cycling infrastructure in Eastern Queens.

We would like to invite NYCC members to come out this Sunday, November 12th, at 12 noon for a Celebration Ride & Party for our new protected bike lane on Northern Boulevard in Bayside/Douglaston!  The ride is only 8 miles long, so it's beginner friendly!  We will meet at PEAK Bikes near the Douglaston LIRR station (42-42 235th Street).  The ride is sponsored by PEAK Bikes, the Transportation Alternatives Eastern Queens Committee, Douglaston Village Chamber of Commerce and the Douglaston Local Development Corp.

the New York Cycle Club joins Transportation Alternatives

I am pleased to announce at our recent board of director’s meeting, the officers of the Club voted overwhelmingly to join Transportation Alternatives.

I can find no record in past minutes of board meetings, no memory of any members, no evidence anywhere the NYCC had ever been a member of Transportation Alternatives.  I am proud to be a part of the board that made this happen for our members.

Any action that improves bicycle life in our city; having the barriers on the West Side Bike Path moved so they are not a hazard to cyclists, improved bicycle access to the GW Bridge, miles and miles and miles of bicycle lanes in our city – it’s a safe bet TA had a hand in any action that has made our life in our backyard better.

Tomorrow night, Thursday, November 9th, 6:30-8:30 PM, Brotherhood Synagogue, 28 Gramercy Park South, NYC:

For those who enjoyed architect (and ‘bentrider!)  David Holowka’s Usonia and Hugenot talks (on Neile Weissman’s rides), he says: “I'll be one of four panelists in a preservation conference tomorrow and will speak on the plague of facadism: http://hdc.org/featured/saving-our-architectural-treasures-and-our-history”
