B-STS reminder: signups for each ride will be on the ride calendar in March-April

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Wed, 02/14/2018 - 12:25pm

There’s no full program signups, we do it per-ride on the ride calendar.

Check back in mid-March for the first couple of rides starting Saturday March 31!

The SIG and STS programs demanding pre-registration are sold out for 2018. Registration for the A-STS is available via the rides listing page on a weekly basis. Registration for B-STS rides will become available via the rides listing page soon.

3 days after the sticky post by the Webmaster:

"We will be making another change to the FORUMS so that only paid members of NYCC will be able to view, add, and respond.  The board did vote to perform this change.”

And no other shoe has dropped.

We will be making another change to the FORUMS so that only paid members of NYCC will be able to view, add, and respond.  The board did vote to perform this change.  I will post an update to this message once the change has been completed.

Thank You.

Double Dismount requirement for the New TZ Bridge? (UPDATE)

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Sun, 02/11/2018 - 3:06pm

Details here: https://biketarrytown.org/tappan-zee-bridge/

We don't even have to dismount for the nearly 90-year-old GWB, why would they design this into a brand new bridge with a 13-foot-wide crossing deck path?

Update: SUCCESS!! The swing gates are no longer part of the plan. But there's still advocacy that needs to be done:

Tire Puncture Prevention - what do you use?

Submitted by cbformula on Sun, 02/11/2018 - 12:15pm

Hi everyone,

Pretty new to cycling and this forum so its a pleasure to be here!  Oh and its my birthday today haha.

Ive been riding a ton of miles since I started getting into cycling a few months ago and I experienced my first puncture.  Big peice of glass on a rainy cold day... it was miserable.

Anyways, Ive since been looking into options to reduce the chance of a flat and I wanted to ask what you guys use?  Certain tire brand?  Tire liners?  Injected sealants?

From amazon I am considering getting:

New Gear

Awesome that the 2018 gear is available for purchase now. At this time, is there any chance that additional items such as bib shorts, winter bib shorts, winter bib knickers, winter bib tights ... will be made available at anytime? The SIG kicks off shortly and other than everyones anticipation and excitement, we rarely have those warm spring mornings to keep us all motivated.
