I was at Trek bicycles today to look at trainers. Anyone have experience with the Wahoo Kickr Snap?

Riding from Poughkeepsie to Hudson, NY and in the Hudson area

Submitted by Myles Lewis on Thu, 07/23/2020 - 2:25pm

Hello all,

I will be spending a week in Hudson and will be riding up from the Poughkeepsie MN station. Google Maps has me cycling the 42 miles on Route 9 to get there. Anyone have any experience riding on that stretch of RT 9 as far as how bicycle friendly it is and if an alternate route would be preferable? For example, 9G runs parallel to RT 9 for a good stretch.
Also any recommend routes or areas to ride to and around in the Hudson area? Thanks in advance!

Route, Points of Interest NYC to Mystic, CT

Submitted by Kirby Azurin on Tue, 07/21/2020 - 2:39pm

Greetings! All,

I hope this finds the community well and healthy.  I am interrested in riding from GWB to Mystic, CT.   Realistically, I should probbaly attempt it in 2 days, given all this heat we've received.  Any points of interest and a favorite places to stay for the night would be great.  I generally don't ride on my own so suggested routes would be nice.  I'm new to Komoot and use a Wahoo Element for navigation (usually pinned from RideWGPS).

Thank you for your shared knowledge. - Kirby

Metro North currently has no peak weekday service

Although we are not scheduling train rides for NYCC, the public is not restricted to off peak hour for boarding trains with bikes.

Granted, you travel at your own risk and obey rules, meaning wear masks, without peak restrictions cyclists may take their bikes on any train.

For those who are not working, or have free time and feel comfortable riding trains during the pandemic, let it be known that individuals with bikes have never had such freedom regarding train useage.

I waited 40 years for this!

Last night I cycled from Nyack to Tarrytown on the new Mario Cuomo bridge bike path at sunset and returned to Nyack in total darkness after the sun has set.  The bridge was well illuminated and my front and rear lights were neded only to get home. (photo & details available) One evening last week Joan & I took a romantic stroll there.
