Defending Your Central Park Ticket
Steve Bauman has kindly supplied a copy of his remarks from last night's Community Council meeting.
Steve has taken a good look at NYS vehicular traffic law and smartly unearthed the fact that cyclists, during hours of Park vehicle closure, may not be legally subject to traffic-control signals.
If you are contesting your summons you'll want to take a good look at Steve's remarks.

Comments on the Central Park Precinct Community Council Meeting
Twenty or more members of NYCC, including our president, several past presidents and numerous board members, attended the Central Park Precinct Community Council Meeting this evening. The church was packed with hundreds of people...far beyond their normal attendance. TA members passed out nice sticky labels at the door that graphically showed cyclist "heart" pedestrian. Proceedings opened with presentation of awards to members of the all-volunteer Central Park Emergency Medical folks for which we all applauded. Then Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer put in a guest appearance and pledged his ongoing efforts to make the lights flash yellow and allow cyclists to ride freely "especially in the morning." He got a fairly strong applause from the hundreds of pro-bike attendees.
Frustrated with my Trek Madone seatpost
I'm hoping for maybe a suggestion, possibly just commiseration. The two-sided rail holders on the seatpost move independently and there is virtually no way to change that. Hence, when I finally get the saddle into a comfy position, one side seems higher than the other, and indeed is. After a two-day weekend of longer rides than my sore rump is used to since last autumn, my expert adjuster told me there's not much to do. Now, to get the saddle into that "sweet spot" of comfort we all know about (a millimeter can make ALL the difference to this Princess and the Pea), it takes many frustrating tries.
tuesday hill repeats - canceled
hi friends,
i need to put my tuesday 7am hill repeats on hiatus. it saddens me b/c i've been leading these rides every single week since 2006 when i was doing the c-sig. i'm playing with the big boys and girls now so i need to train with them. but like arnold, "i'll be back."
i'll still be in the hill, so say hi as we pass each other.
see you soon :-)

Sunday NY Post article: Bike-sniping Weiner's dubious 'lane' change by David Seifman
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/bike_sniping_weiner_dubious_lane_1ILn...
Article was hemmed in with another I-don't-like Sadik-Khan tome (" Feast & Furious") and a forthcoming DOT plan for Manhattan's 34th St.
Quote:
"I voted for Anthony Weiner last election. Wish I could take that vote back," wrote jweaver on New York Cycle Club website.
Treats for my fellow club members...
Spring is coming and along with it, a little spring cleaning. Hopefully others can find use out of this stuff.

Monday morning petition "ride"
No one has signed up to participate- heads up to everyone who cares about this issue.
I've changed the plan- we'll be meeting at TOG at 5:50 and NOT at the boathouse at 6:30, and getting petitions signed at TOG where groups meet to begin rides.
Anyone who wants to join and pick up some petitions to take to a different location, you can meet us at 5:50 at TOG. Please bring a pen.
Training during the week
I would get a few people together who would like to train in CP at the evening, 6.30p or so. I am riding the A-19 Sig. Please contact me if you are interested.
