Pot Holes at Riverside & 142nd Street Intersection Totally Repaved

Submitted by RSchmon on Wed, 03/30/2011 - 11:02pm

This afternoon, I was very happy to see brand new black-top for just over a block starting just south of 142nd street along Riverside going north and beautifully replacing the mess of potholes that were there before.  A month ago, DOT informed me they would patch it up now and do a full re-paving in the fall.  I’m delighted to see they moved their schedule up several months!

Thurs 3/31 A19 Prospect Park Training - Weather

Submitted by EOliver on Wed, 03/30/2011 - 7:37pm

The current forcast is calling for light rain in the morning and falling temps.  Based on that, there will be no ride tomorrow morning.  I will check the weather in the morning to confirm.  I'll post an update here by 5:30am.

Spring into some hills April 3rd

I have a nice route planned for this Sunday, with lots of climbing in the lower Hudson Valley. Most of the route is on quiet back roads though we are on the nicer part of 9W as well.  The original plan was about 4200 feet of climbing. I have added an optional section on the return which takes us off 9W through nice residential streets in Cresskill and Englewood.

The weather forecast looks good if somewhat cool at a high of 51F but we'll generate plenty of heat climbing. Layers are recommended.

new member seeks weekday ride partners and bike advice

Submitted by BREZNICK on Wed, 03/30/2011 - 10:53am

 Hi,

My name is Bruce Reznick and I'm a new member who is seeking like minded folks for cycling in NYC or around here during the week, this spring.

I'm 58... working my way back into shape, and about to buy a new bike that offers stability and the ability to roll well but absorb city punishment.

I'm more than open to any solid advice on the bike (I've been shopping and my goal is to spend beeen 600-800 bucks tops)

Also, I'm really interested in connecting with some nice folks who have time during the week to ride

Thank you...

My email on outlook is [email protected]

'Hope to see you on the road.

Were any of you invited to this fund-raising party? No? Reading the names of the rich and the famous, it seems to have been something other than a summoning of the masses.

Morning report from B16 Central Park laps group - police car lineup

Submitted by LWintner on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 5:43pm

Our little group of hardy souls was out at 6:15 this morning (Tuesday) in the cold and it was sad. There were very few other cyclists out. I don't know whether it was the cold or the police that kept them away, but I missed them.
