Chasing Legends DVD

Submitted by HDershowitz on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 5:41pm

I thought I was next on the list to receive the DVD.  Haven't heard anything for months.

Basil, any idea who has it?

I already have accomodations elsewhere, but there are surely people already staying here or thinking of staying here on memorial day weekend.  No fine print about using this on holidays, except that it exprires June1st.    Maybe you know someone staying here and can pass this on.  Some creative individual or pair can sure make this work for them for the fun nycc berkshire weekend.   Note, groupon deal only available today, 3/29, so act quickly.

Last night's fantastic benefit

Submitted by MSchwarz on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 2:40pm

Thank you, Ellen, for such an elegant and worthwile event. And thank you, Ed, for creating such a great club for kids. It was obvious from what they said that the club is so important to them and they are learning so much about their town and cycling and sport and comraderie. The hotel was beautiful and it's wonderful to get together and see everyone, all for such a terrific cause.

Recommendation for GPS please

Submitted by KJacobson on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 2:31pm

It's time to buy a GPS to keep me on the right track. I don't need the latest model just something easy to read and upload. I would appreciate some advice.

Recommendations for bike work stand

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 2:01pm

Looking to buy a work stand.

Not having used any work stands I would welcome any recommendations and experiences with them  that you could give me.

Also since most of my bikes are carbon is it best to use a clamp system or one that adheres to the bottom bracket and locks either the front or rear fork of the bike.

Looking to buy a saddle, need your help

Submitted by QuakePhil on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 1:41pm

I've been hearing a lot of good things about these "real man" saddles.  If anyone has one I'd like to know your take on it, what you like and dislike about it, and so forth.  How expensive are they?  If you have an under-saddle tool bag, is there any extra abrasion from using this saddle?  Also I'd like to know if there's a companion set of matching handlebar tape.

Thanks

Just for fun, check out Speer Ave., Englewood, NJ, on Google Earth.

You'll get a little surprise.  It was new to me.

Community Board 7 Parks and Transportation Meeting

Submitted by mg on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 9:54am

The good news is that the committee wants to help restore recreational cycling in the Park. The committee and community members at the meeting were supportive of restoring cycling in the park. There were no rabid anti-cyclists present.

The board however brought up serious problems with implementing yellow lights.

Submitted by EJaffe on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 9:53am

It was a sellout crowd for the Kids Ride Club benefit last night.

Many thanks to neighbors who helped make this happen.....

Jakob & Chris at The Crosby Street Hotel, Katie and Morgan at Crumpler and Charlie & Lara at Bicycle Habitat.

Thanks also to the kids for spending the evening with us!

Hope it was fun for everyone.

'If you’re Ray Kelly, police commissioner of New York City, the answer is clear: You obsess over minor violations by cyclists while ignoring virtually all other traffic violations in the city.'

IMAGINE YOU’RE THE POLICE COMMISSIONER of a large American city.

You’re charged with enforcing the laws, fighting crime, keeping public order, and protecting the public’s safety.
