For Sale: Kestrel Talon 52 cm Carbon Frame Dura Ace - $1095 (Upper West Side)

Submitted by MDonikian on Sun, 05/01/2011 - 2:02pm

Hi all,

I'm looking to selling my Kestrel Talon before I head out to Seattle in the coming weeks.  This bike has raced CRCA races, done the A-SIG Classic (twice), and done the Berkshires a couple times... a true NYCC bike... fitting that it should stay in NY and in the hands of a NYCC rider.

I have the posting on craigslist: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/bik/2356506518.html

I will accept any serious offer.

Rooms available in Great Barrington

Submitted by MLoftis on Sun, 05/01/2011 - 1:09am

Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the NYCC weekend in the Berkshires.  As a result, we had to cancel our reservations at Parry House in Great Barrington.  This is a small B&B within walking distance of downtown Great Barrington.  There are two rooms available.

It looks like it will be a great day to ride.  We will take River Road on the way out and climb Clausland / Tweed before having a quick refueling stop in Nyack.  Return will be via 9W.

Nice article on Gran Fondo NY (for whoever's riding it)

100-mile Gran Fondo will test cyclists, Rockland's preparations

NYACK — Thousands of bicyclists taking part in a 100-mile ride will pedal through Rockland on May 8 in a first-time event that will pose challenges to riders, and possibly motorists, too.

The Gran Fondo's course will bring cyclists from the lower level of the George Washington Bridge to Bear Mountain State Park and back — in less than 10 hours.

"There definitely seems to be a buzz," said James Skelley, owner of Nyack Bicycle Outfitters, who added that it may be the biggest ride ever to take place in Rockland.

Share your Love of Bicyling: Teach Classes with Bike New York

Submitted by thaney on Fri, 04/29/2011 - 11:01am

Want to share your love of cycling and invest in the future of NYC cyclists!?  Volunteer to teach classes with Bike New York!

Last year over 2,000 New Yorkers of all ages learned how to ride a bike for the first time.  Several hundred more learned basic bikes skills, how to be more responsible bicyclists.  All these classes were taught in large part by our fantastic volunteers.  Volunteers are the driving force of our education program and we are looking to grow this fantastic group!  We love having volunteers who are enthusiastic about cycling and want to spread the joy of riding a bike!

Anyone Riding Gran Fondo?

New member here.  My friend and I signed up for this not realizing what we were getting into.  Two months later, we've done some pretty good training, did the hardest 60 miles of the course last week and are looking to have some fun and finish the 100 miles in 7 to 8 hours without killing ourselves.  I figure I'm a B15 to 16 rider.  Anyone else in the same catagory (or better) want to ride the event together?  Maybe form a group of 4?

Thanks.

This Titanium Bow Could Be the Next Great Bike Lock

Just read this on Gizmotdo of all places...

The word "bow" doesn't exactly connote theft-deterring power, but when that bow is made out of titanium, it's a different story. The Kickstarter hopeful TiGr lock claims flexibility, hack-proof strength, and a sexy design worthy of your ride.
