Info on Gios frame sets anyone ??
Here I am still waffling between a custom steel build and a more traditional Italian frame for my next bike. Thought I had settled on a custom built compact light steel frame and then started reading about Gios compact pro.. made in Italy .. trouble is no one seems to sell them in this country. Anyone know anything about them..?? I have seen a guy from CRCA riding one in the park a couple of times but not had a chance to quiz him more than seeing the big smile on his face when he says how much he loves the bike..

Scouting ride - Oakland Beach, Rye - Thursday 8/18 - A19/20
Right now, we have three on tomorrow's ride and I’m seeing 40% chance of precipitation from 2.00 pm and will keep an eye on that but I guess we won’t know too much more until tomorrow morning.
If things stay as they are, I guess I’d be happy (sort-of) to give it a whirl………..but only if I have at least one willing accomplice!
Final decision by 8.00 am tomorrow (Thursday) morning
Hopefully, forecast will be better in the morning!
Basil

Denver cycling
Hey all,
I'm headed to Denver for the weekend and hope to get in some riding. I am NOT bringing my bike. Anyone who can recommend a bike shop that rents would be great. That much, though, I can figure out on my own. Anyone who can recommend routes would be my hero.
Any distance is fine, but 80-100 miles is my goal distance.

CP Boathouse strike / protests : Change start location of All Class Ride?
Good morning,
Since last Tuesday the workers at the Boathouse in Central Park have been on strike and there are crowds of protesters in that immediate area:

This has been causing a lot of congestion and bottlenecks at that location. Because of the uncertainty of this being resolved by this weekend, (and not knowing how early they may gather), I would like to propose moving the start location for Sunday's All Class ride up to Engineer's Gate at 90th St.
How does this sound? Feedback appreciated.
Judge Rejects Groups’ Effort to Remove Brooklyn Bike Lane
Effort to Remove Prospect Park West Bike Lane Rejected (NYTimes, Aug. 16, 2011)
A judge on Tuesday dismissed an effort by Brooklyn residents to remove a hotly contested bicycle lane installed by the city on Prospect Park West, in one of the most closely watched controversies over a signature policy of the Bloomberg administration.
The decision represented a significant victory for the city and its transportation commissioner, Janette Sadik-Khan, whose campaign to create streets more oriented to pedestrians and bicyclists has divided New Yorkers and prompted a fierce political debate.
Overly Humpy: River Road ride is...well, not exactly "cancelled"...
...but since it's "undersubscribed" (i.e., no one has signed up) I'm not waiting for last-minute attendees. I'm not even waiting for 6:30.
I might not even do River Road.
But you don't care, you didn't sign up. That's okay, I'll just sit here alone in the dark. (You never call, you never write...why can't you be more like your brother the doctor?!?!)
