Looking for Information on Mott Farm to Cedar Flats to Gate Hill Route

Submitted by Mkreitman on Fri, 04/27/2012 - 5:11pm

I am preparing a route for a round trip NYC - Bear Mtn and I am looking for information on some roads to avoid taking 9W through Haverstraw.  Specifically, returning on 9W, in Tompkins Cove, there is a road off of 9W- Mott Farm - that one can take to Bulsontown Road, and then to Cedar Flats Road, and Cedar Flats to Route 210/Gate Hill.   I would take Gate Hill to Willow Grove, and get back to the Orchards or Little Tor for the ride back to GWB.

How is the Mott farm/Bulsontown/Cedar Flats/Gate Hill route?  Good cycling? heavily trafficked?  Shoulder conditions? Any information would be appreciated.

Maybe he should have follow police's advice of not leaving his bike unattended :)

Posted at http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=385662  Thanks, and hope to see you out there! (Especially if you're presently signed up.) The current forecast looks about average for late April.

Claudia Kulesh will be co-leading; her phone number, so you have it on hand on the ride day, is findable via the search function on the website. (We'll only be modifying the ride listing to mention this development post facto.)

Memorial Day Berkshires running events

Submitted by RFranco on Thu, 04/26/2012 - 5:32pm

I am very excited about the upcoming NYCC Memorial Day Berkshires weekend.  I have been attending it since 1989 and co-organizing it since 2004.  Depending upon when and how you get up to the Berkshires, you can have four days of spectacular cycling.  The Sunday group dinner party is always a blast. How often do you get to dance with your fellow cyclists?  The hard part is recognizing everyone without helmets and lycra. Here is more information about the weekend and signing up for the dinner.  Remember that you must sign up for the dinner in advance.  http://nycc.org/events/berkshires

Driving to the Berkshires (from NJ)

Submitted by J S on Thu, 04/26/2012 - 4:21pm

Howdy...  I'm planning to drive to the Berkshires rides, starting in Jersey City.  My car rack can accomodate 2 bikes.

So, I can take one person along -- two if you have a bigger bike rack ;)  Priority goes to someone in Jersey City, Hoboken or en route.  Otherwise, you'll have to take the PATH to Hoboken or JC.

Email [email protected] if you're interested.

Friday Ride

Submitted by RRGilbert on Thu, 04/26/2012 - 10:05am

I am thinking of doing the Knot tomorrow (Friday).  Anyone interested in coming along?  I'm an A19 rider, but alittle slow on the hills.
