Public restrooms - and the lack thereof - and peeplace/en
Have you all seen the very interesting article in Bloomberg CityLab entitled "Where Did All the Public Bathrooms Go"? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-11-05/why-american-cities-lost-their-public-bathrooms
Reminds me of the misery of planning a ride during the lockdown. Could only be as far as would allow me to turn around and get home without embarrassing myself.
The best part of the article is a reference to peeplace/en: https://pee.place/en This site shows publc restrooms near the user. I haven't tried it yet since there's a scary storm going on outside my window right now.
Use caution on the South County Trail!!
The trail is rideable, but at a slower pace.
1) Most of the trail is covered in leaves. You can’t see the pavement, and worse, you can’t see the edges. I’ve “fallen” off the edge of the pavement twice in the last two days and I know the trail as I ride it almost every day. I’ve been riding closer to what I think is the center. That works at the times of the day I’ve been riding, as there are few other people out on the SCT around sunrise.
2) There are trees down all over the trail. Nothing blocking, everything has been cut and pushed to the sides, but the debris is left on the trail.
Bike shop that has Castelli bib tights in stock?
Can anyone suggest a bike shop in the city that might have a selection of Castelli bib tights? I want to buy, but have not been able to find in an actual store. Would be much simpler to get the correct size as opposed to trial and error ordering online.
Thanks,
Dave

Cycling in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Hello! I am hoping to get some information/suggestions about cycling in Fort Laudardale, FL (bike shops and routes/destinations).
I am going to spend a week there in December and thought I'd rent a bike while I'm there. (This is something I've done before in other places, but I'm not familiar Fortlaudardale.) According to Yelp, Pedritos Bike Shop and Downtown Bicycles seem to be good options and closer to where I'll be.
I'd appreciate any leads.

Major Step Forward in Hudson-Essex Greenway
New Jersey committed to purchasing the right of way of the Boonton rail line, the big "missing piece" for the Hudson-Essex rail-trail project. While it will no doubt be years before the project is completed and open, it now looks like that day will in fact come.
The Essex-Hudson Trail will provide a car-free right of way from the PATH station in Jersey City across the Hackensack and Passaic Rivers, and the Meadowlands, to Montclair. It will make road cycling in lovely Morris County NJ far more accessible for NYers.

Three Policemen Standing Together Today On The GWB In This Instance Being Very Productive
As I rode onto the GWB around noon today I came across three police officers standing together in conversation just prior to the first pylon. I must confess my first thought was that they were enjoying a great day, having a great chat, and not doing much else. I was very happy to be proven wrong. As I negotiated the chicane around the pylon a motor scooter identical in size and look to a Revel approached. I stopped to see if the officers would respond, and they did. Pulling him over. I didn’t wait to see if they gave him a citation but it very much looked like that was exactly why they were there. 100 meters later, I came across a guy on a large motorcycle coming towards me. If I rolled my eyes at the size of his motorcycle, I
