Bike Hire Brooklyn/Greenpoint

Submitted by Lynette on Fri, 10/01/2021 - 6:06am

Hi all,

I am from London UK, but coming over to NY later this month.  Really hoping I can ride with a C14 group over the 23/24th October weekend, assuming a ride is planned. Does anyone have any recommendations for bike hire shops around Brooklyn/Greenpoint?  I am looking for a road bike: Cannondale or Bianchi, or similar.  I'll bring my helmet, lycra and water bottles, but anything else it would be good to bring?  Thanks in advance for your tips and advice! L x

Thanking the ENY Team

Submitted by leorar on Thu, 09/30/2021 - 5:35pm

I want to congratulate Allan, Collin, and the army of ENY volunteers for their amazing accomplishment this weekend!

After a year that's been marked by isolation and cancellations, it meant a lot to me to have a lovely day surrounded by other cyclists. I haven't had that kind of fun in a long time, and I recognize that so many of you worked hard over the last two years to make ENY happen. You all rock; thank you!

Driver hits 6 cyclists training outside of Houston

A 16 year old boy driving a diesel pickup, hit and injured 6 cyclists on a road outside of Houston, TX this past Saturday. He's suspected of ramming them after deliberately blasting diesel exhaust ("rolling coal") at members of the cycling group.

Comments on the article skew heavily anti-cyclist, as is often the case.

NEW TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN CENTRAL PARK

Submitted by Joel Levenson on Mon, 09/27/2021 - 12:02pm
Noticed numerous newly installed traffic lights in Central Park on the East and West Drives. There are 3 lights in close proximity to each other on the West Drive near the tennis courts. Won't be long until a ticket blitz begins.

I've submitted a Ride Listing for tomorrow, Monday. Likely due to ENY busyness, ride is not listed yet.
Email me if you're interested. 8:30 am start at the 59th Street Bridge. 66 miles total.
