A favorite peeve of mine continues. Perhaps because I am an ox that is persistently is threatened to be gored.

This is a failure of education mixed with a false sense of security mutli-path users feel when they are separated from motor traffic. Yes, you read me correctly; feel. In the city, we are not apart from motor traffic as we share space with e bikes, e scooters, one wheels, even gas powered 2 wheels jobs of sorts. But this false sense of being safe is undermined by the non-motorized users themselves; for some reason, a sizeable number of people think it is fine to exit or do a U turn without looking around to see who is in front, behind and along side, before executing the maneuver. Thus we have issues of complacency and failure to educate.

Good bike insurance?

Hi all,

Does anyone have a recommendation on a reputable bike insurance company?  I'm trying to get a rather valuable road bike insured.

Thanks!

9W corridor between Bear Mountain & Newburgh questions

Submitted by MHiller on Mon, 09/20/2021 - 7:35am

Hey, anyone happen to know if

1) West Point has reopened to casual visitors, if crossing south (from Thayer Gate) to north (leaving at Washington Gate)?

2) Has Storm King Highway (218 from Washington Gate south into the village of Cornwall) reopened to traffic?

For the latter, I heard that immediately after Ida it was closed to all uses due to falling rocks, and there were people actually watching and not even letting bikes through.

Thanks!

Travelers Insurance Representative?

In Steve Vacarro's extremely informative presentation at the last club meeting I believe he mentioned that one of the Club members sells Travelers bike insurance. I did not catch the member's name as it was a bit hard to hear. Did anyone hear it?
