Staying warm while biking
Sure you can wear layers, drink whiskey, and grow a sweet beard to stay warm. But this question was posted on one of my favorite sites.
I bike to class sometimes. It's annoying biking in the wintertime, because it's so cold. How fast would I have to bike for my skin to warm up the way a spacecraft heats up during reentry?
Best way to avoid getting chilled?
I'm planning to post a ride soon, and the temp may be below 40. There will be an indoor lunch stop. What's the best way to avoid getting chilled when we go outside again?
First, of course, we should keep the lunch stop short.
Second, I would think we should take off some layers when we're indoors in order to air-dry a bit and remove some moisture. But, on the other hand, if we keep our jackets on, the moisture inside might stay warm and keep us from getting chilled when we go back outside. So, which is best?

Project: New York Cycle Diary
Short message (short info)
To be as concrete as possible, I need your insights on biking conditions in your city (whatever the context).
· Use twitter hashtag #cyclediary to submit an entry of yours.
· If you like paper more, please use a paper form (link is in the end of the post) which I made for you to fill in. You may fold it and keep it in your back pocket.
I need your insights in order to understand what I can do in order to improve the quality of cycle in urban areas. At first in New York City and hopefully after that – all over the world!
Hello,
Locking Up Your Bike In Grand Central Station.
Bike Snob has an interesting story re the above on today's webpage. I am too inept to post the link and too lazy to transcribe it. So if you wish to view it, which I recommend, you will have to visit BikeSnob's blog.
Cheers.
Do you know this bicycle commuter?
I have to ask if anyone knows this guy, or if you've witnessed the juggernaut of insanity that seems to be his daily commute.
B15 morning laps in Central Park is cancelled
The roads are soaking wet, so I am cancelling this morning's Central Park ride. See you all on Thursday morning.

Local source for physical therapy equipment?
Can anyone recommend a local source where I might be able to purchase physical therapy equipment? Specifically, I am looking for one of those small incline boards that one uses to stretch out their calves. (Yes, I know I could make one out of a piece of wood and a couple of bricks, but then I’d have to go out and buy the wood and bricks, so I might as well just go out and buy the finished product.) Thanks.
