That's right, Cycling is a Winter Sport, just like skiing and snow-shoeing.

If you want to learn more about how to keep cycling through the winter, Bike New York has the class for you!   And it's free, no pre-registration required.

Cyclofemme

Submitted by Stombaugh on Mon, 11/26/2012 - 10:26am

A friend of mine, Sarai Snyder, founded an amazing organization earlier this year called Cyclofemme.  The purpose is to celebrate women on bikes and to encourage more to ride.

About 20 NYCC members rode in the first Cyclofemme ride last April (with really cool temporary tattoos) and we'll do it again in 2013.

For now, Cyclofemme is asking women to sign the "Pledge" to get one more woman on a bike.  A link to it is below

Let me know if you have any questions and happy riding!

Any recommendations for cycling DVDs for indoor training?  Prefer 60-120 minutes of high intensity.

Tuesday Nov 28, B16 morning laps in Central Park Cancelled

Submitted by GRoss on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 5:34pm

I have to make an early court appearance on Long Island Tuesday morning and must cancel the B16 "Morning Laps" ride. The Thursday morning ride is still on, weather permitting.

It's difficult to do a double pace line when nobody shows up. Where are all the cool weather slow riders? The A19 guys are out in force and they get just as cold as we do. And it's not even that cold yet!

B17 Muffin Ride TT cancelled

Submitted by jegrgic on Sat, 11/24/2012 - 5:15pm

Alright, so ive been away some due to crutches induced back/neck pain.  However, being stubborn, ive managed to log some miles without it getting any worse.  Therefore, ill be leading at mild B17 pace Muffin Ride.

It is suppose to be coldish and windyish, but nothing that will kill you.

Hope to see you there.

Forest Hills, Queens, cyclist seeking bike club

Submitted by JFinder on Sat, 11/24/2012 - 12:38am

Asking for an acquaintance. A Forest Hills cyclist is looking for a club. Of course she should join NYCC. But if that doesn't work out because she's out so far to the East, is there a good club in E. Queens or Nassau that she could ride with?
