Breaking News: Many pedestrians crossing busy streets are also busy doing something else
"Many pedestrians crossing busy streets are also busy doing something else — usually listening to music, texting or talking on a phone — and those distracted walkers are often failing to look both ways for traffic or follow other safety rules, a new study confirms."

The official Palisades web site (http://www.njpalisades.org/hhdrive.htm) carries this message:
When a barrier has been put in place by the Park on any of its roadways, the roadway beyond that barrier is to be considered closed for all use; those going beyond such a barrier are subject to prosecution.
PSA: The Pie Lady in Upper Nyack
I am always surprised how few NYC-region cyclists know of the Pie Lady in Upper Nyack despite riding past it frequently. Pies that will make you realize you had never had a good pie before.
While you are at it, check out the fun http://www.patisseriecyclisme.com/ website and add a review.
Tour de Brooklyn Scouting Ride Saturday
I plan to ride a 50 mile (+/-) Tour de Brooklyn Saturday (12/15). Start time 9 am from the UWS. I'm not listing the ride "officially" as part of it will be scouting; need to see if the bike path south of the Verrazano is passable (was pretty rough just after Sandy), and if not, scout an alternate. Shouldn't be too hard.
Pace will be B-16. Email me if you're interested in joining. Can pick you up in Brooklyn if you prefer. [email protected]
App for Cycling Clubs
Hi Everyone,
I'm part of a small start-up company that is building a free iPhone app that lets you share your cycling activities with friends. It is great for groups, and I would love to have the chance to work with someone who is involved in NYCC. The app is called Carely and you can check it out at www.care.ly/groups to learn about how it is especially good for cycling clubs.
If anyone is interested in setting this up for the club, please contact me. I would be happy to tell you more, answer any questions, and even set up the NYCC group for you! We are a pretty new company just getting off the ground and we'd be very excited to work with this clearly active and passionate group!
Thank you,
Mara

2013 SIG
Hi,
I am thinking of signing up for the SIG in 2013 and have a couple questions about the levels. Does the B SIG cover the same material as the C SIG? I am wondering if someone needs to have graduated from the C in order to join the B.
Thanks!
