29er MTB needed for Haiti ride 01/29/2013

Submitted by katie.leininger on Thu, 01/10/2013 - 12:57am

I have decided to join last minute on a mountain bike ride in Haiti (MTB Ayiti) at the end of January and now must find a mountain bike.  Looking to find a 29er, preferably full suspension, for under $1,000 in the next week or two.  I am 5'3, female and believe a medium sized frame fits well.

If anyone has a potential bike for sale, any creative ideas on finding the right bike or, even better, a spare bike I could 'rent' for the week--please get in touch at any time.

Thank you!

Katie

Though an automotive innovation, this certainly appears to have implications for cycling:

Garmin 510 versus Garmin 500

Submitted by MGately on Mon, 01/07/2013 - 1:12pm

Here's a review of the new Edge 510, Garmin's long-awaited update to the Edge 500: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/accessories/gadgets/cycle-computers/product/review-garmin-edge-510-gps-cycle-computer-13-46859

I'd waited for this announcement to upgrade from an entry-level Cat Eye to a computer with GPS, and perhaps more data than I require, but now I don't know if I should get a discounted 500 or a new, larger, more expensive 510. Thoughts? Thanks.
