BSIG -- anybody find my glasses?

Submitted by Ken Scher on Sun, 03/17/2013 - 11:17pm

Greetings, I misplaced my specs while having lunch in Hartsdale, in or around the bagel shop. They're clear safety glasses with red temples. If you found them, pleez let me know.

Can you get onto South County Trailway from McLean Avenue in Yonkers?

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Sun, 03/17/2013 - 6:35pm

Just asking. If you've seen this access point in person...

Specifically, I'm seeing a potential access point on Shepard Pl, one block north of McLean connected by Tibbetts Road. McLean goes over the Trailway, not directly into it. A map of access points doesn't include this one, but the bike lanes in the area flow right into the Trailway at Shepard Pl. One could conceivably get to this point following a well-used club route up to Bronx River Road, but going westbound on McLean/Nereid instead of north.

This article doesn't speak of the rain and slick roads that followed the snow.

sad day in cycling history - the farm on 501 is closed

Submitted by crosscountrymule on Sat, 03/16/2013 - 1:52pm

i was saddened to see that the farm on 501 is closed - not just for the season, but it is closed permanently.  this was a destination for so many of my rides - 7 deadly sins gluttony ride, singles ride, birthday ride, donut ride.

jay, where are we going to get the most amazing homemade donuts now?  i just looked at my photo albums.  i have so many pictures of people enjoying the donuts.  so sad.

If you think you're not getting good mileage from your tires, consider this...

"In the real world, the goal of a tire manufacturer is to deliver products that offer the ideal balance of adhesion and wear. Yet Pirelli, the exclusive supplier to the [Formula 1] series, has been directed to reformulate its tire compounds to wear more rapidly.

C SIG is on today

Submitted by KMostkoff on Sat, 03/16/2013 - 7:04am

We realize the weather is looking iffy, but we will have the workshop as scheduled. Please bring your bikes. If it is raining at the end of the workshop we will cancel the ride. Please remember to dress warmly - knees, neck and head covered, full gloves and warm socks.

B SIG Is ON for Saturday, but the start is moved back to 10:00

Submitted by FLeffel on Fri, 03/15/2013 - 2:27pm

The weather forecasts now call for the overnight rain to end by morning, but at least one has it still raining by 9 AM, which will make it tough riding to the start. So we're pushing the start back to 10:00.

If there are any further changes, we will post on the message board by 7:15 AM.

Smart ENVE 3.4 wheelset

Submitted by rider_b75 on Fri, 03/15/2013 - 12:11pm

Has anyone ridden ENVE wheels? The latest model is promising a really big difference:

The major issue with ENVE wheels is price tag, obviously. Whereas, if consider that those wheels can fulfill the promise of climbing along with flats, stability and breaking.... That is - fulfilling tasks of almost two wheel sets, so the price looks less scary while divided by 2?
