The Haverstraw Marina Water Club has reopened after Sandy damage.

The Piermont Lighthouse is reopening next month as Pier 701 (about 1/4 mile north of the commercial section) by the owners of NJ's Harvest Restaurant

I recommend both.

baby bike seats?

First of all: no I'm not having a baby. But, a friend asked:

Hey, do you have bike riding friends who have those baby bike seats? I'm vaguely entertaining the idea of getting one. But I'm not sure if it's worth it cause some of them are mega expensive. But then I don't want to get a cheap one in case that's not as safe. Thoughts? Referrals?

Anybody with experience with these want to weigh in? Then I will pass the thread along. Thanks, hivemind!

Here are some activities in the Berkshires besides biking, hiking and antiquing:

I did the trail run last year and it was a blast. I plan on doing it again this year.

Train update - train rides are posted - sign up and reserve your spot on the train.

Update 5/22/2013 - The rides are posted for people who want to take a train to/from the Berkshires. Go to Rides/events, select Upcoming Rides and signup for a space on a train/ride. See you in the Berkshires.

bike path

FYI, the section of the bike/run path around 125th street, just west of The Fairway Market, is closed due to construction. Detour on the east of the market, and one can get back on the trail just a couple blocks south.
