Join me in the 2013 Heart Ride May 18th, in the Hamptons
For the last few years my wife, Ellen, has had some serous heart related challenges that put her in the emergency room 6 times in 2012. Thanks to the American Heart Association’s research and its support of NYU’s Medical Center and Mt. Sinai’s Cardiovascular Medicine that provided the treatment that Ellen required; she is back in action. And, we plan to have her re-enrolled in her favorite yoga class this Spring.
To lend my support for the American Heart Association and honor the doctors and nurses who have been instrumental in Ellen’s recovery, I have joined the 2013 Heart Ride. You can join me on the ride, or support my effort through your donation. Here’s how:
This is DEVASTATING!
Yeah, I know this could have been nested in the earlier thread about police non-enforcement, but this demands to have its own headline.
This report is from Gothamist but comes to my attention via Streetsblog, whose editor-in-chief, Ben Fried, will be at tonight's meeting.

should I bail on the great monday rides so that I don't feel so exhausted for tuesday?
Hells Bells! 90th and 5th in Manhattan. Anybody else have a bit of a treck getting there?(on time!)
I stuck around in the park for a while after todays ride with Jim to get some more distance in before heading out to crazy 2nd ave to Manhattan Bridge. Any suggestions or exapmles of how some other members manage their time? I'm not super busy, but do have an agenda that I need to stick to that includes a good nights rest. Would resting on monday or riding on my own time (which would mean a bit more sleep) mondays so that I can be ready for tuesday morning laps?

May 5 Putnam Cycling Classic in Cold Spring
I met a very nice guy in Strictly today who told me about a cycling event that sounds like fun, so I'm posting it here, as I was told there are too many to list in the eWeekly out-of-bounds section. It is on May 5, it starts in Cold Spring, and there is support on the roads, no traffic, and lots of beautiful scenery. It's called the Putnam Cycling Classic and you can learn more details about it by going to putnamcycling.com.
Downtown Blessing of the Bicycles Saturday 20 April at 2PM
Saint Mark’s Church in the Bowery will be holding its 1st annual Blessing of the Bicycles Saturday April 20th, 2pm. St. Marks is located at 131 East 10th Street, at the corner of 10th St. and 2nd Avenue, in Manhattan. In case of rain the Blessing will be moved to the same time on 27 April. This is a very similar event to the Bicycle Blessing at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, which is happening the same day at 9AM except it will be downtown and later in the day. The event is ecumenical and welcoming to all cyclists wanting to take a moment to contemplate a safe cycling season and to get their bikes blessed. The St.

Parking on NJ side of GWB
Hi all,
My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere in the forum. I couldn't find the answer, so I figured I would ask. If it has already been addressed, please feel free to point me to the post.
I am going to be riding to Bear Mtn and back on Saturday, and want to start on the NJ side of the GWB to cut out 30 junk miles (from Queens). I know that parking is no longer allowed on Hudson Terrace, so where is a good place to park? Any suggestions within about 1-5 miles is fine. Is there a common practice now that the Hudson Terrace is off limits?
Thanks in advance.

Dux Helm Helmets?
Does anyone have experience with Dux Helm helmets? I heard word that someone in the club has one, and I'd be very interested in hearing how you like it.
