How does one know when rims are worn out

Submitted by GRoss on Wed, 07/03/2013 - 9:49pm

I have about 9,000 miles on my bike and notice that the rear wheel rim is worn slightly concave where the brake pads contact the side of the rim. There is also a slight ridge where from the tire down the rim side about 2-3mm where the brake pad doesn't touch the rim. The front rim is flat. It makes sense that the rear rim is worn more than the front because I use the rear brake to modulate my speed goind downhill and normally use the front brake for coming to a dead stop. The rims are Alex 390. Does anyone know  how to tell when they should be replaced?

A-Classic .TCX files?

Submitted by edeuser on Wed, 07/03/2013 - 12:42pm

It seems I managed to save the cue sheets and .GPX files for the A-Classic routes, but misplaced the .TCX versions.  I believe I would need the .TCX file type in order to get turn-by-turn directions on my Garmin 500.  Would somebody be able to email me the .TCX versions? My address is ericdeuser AT gmail DOT com

Thanks in advance!

Get well soon Harry Woods

Let's all wish Harry a speedy recovery from his big injury. Seems he couldn't lead his famous 6:00 AM Central Park Ride and Dash ride Wed morning after suffering a debilitating injury Tuesday evening. OMIGOSH, he cut his finger doing the dishes. He said he wouldn't normally take on such a risky dangerous activiy as washing the dishes exceppt for the fact he was told, "do the dishes". Next time, be careful Harry. And get well soon!
