I've been trying to say exactly this for a long time. This sums it up so perfectly.

On a newbie leading rides

Submitted by egstillman on Tue, 07/09/2013 - 1:13pm

Hiya,

I'm a newer member of the club, having done my one and only club ride with the 'Newcomer's to Piermont' a couple of weeks ago. Are there any restrictions on who can lead rides, or any sort of training/orientation that must be done? (Apart from reading and complying with the Leader's Training Manual and Guidelines.)

I do most of my riding on weekdays, maximizing the fun in my unemployment, but I'm not as quick as the Unemployment Ride group already up and running. I was thinking of seeing if anyone might be intereested in B-pace weekday rides.

Thanks for any tips or advice.

Ed

NYC Triathlon this Sunday

Submitted by iforst on Tue, 07/09/2013 - 9:32am

For those of you planning on riding/leading on Sunday, you may want to avoid the park & riverside drive. The West Side Highway will be closed all morning so one has to assume that RSD will pick up the brunt of the traffic flowing north.

New Filter on Ride Listings

Submitted by iforst on Mon, 07/08/2013 - 10:42pm

Hello all,

You'll notice a new filter on the ride listings page allowing you to view all weekend rides instead of Saturday OR Sunday.

Thanks to Scott McGuire for the simple but elegent suggestion.

An encyclopedic and fascinating history of cycling in the world's most prominent biking city (at least the Western World). Bike thievery has been a national pastime there---even Anne Frank had her bike stolen some time before she went into hiding. Riding single file was an important issue during the Nazi Germany occupation years.  Cyclists rode 4 or 5 abreast blocking frustrated German Gestapo officers' Mercedes autos  from proceeding. Incidentally author Jordan's previous book, written in 2007,was about one man's quest to wash dishes in eateries in all 50 states (as I cycled in all 50).

why the subtle changed in the jersey design?

Submitted by GYang on Mon, 07/08/2013 - 3:59pm

Just wondering if anyone could explain why the order of the color bands on the new NYCC jersey was reversed from the 75th anniversary version? Just curious...

Top to bottom: 75th anniversary - brown/yellow/black/red/blue

became blue/red/black/yellow/brown

Trying to reach Daniel (Labovitz?)

Submitted by DMC on Mon, 07/08/2013 - 9:06am

Off bicycling topic, but my wife (Colleen Conway) and I (David Carr) met a neurologist last year on the ride up to the Berkshires, Daniel, who is a neurologist, and we had a nice ride together up to Sheffield on a rainy day.

I'm trying to reach him for some advice relating to his specialty and not clear how to reach him. So Daniel or a friend of his, if you're out there, can you be in touch please? We would really appreciate it. My gmail account is carrdavid.

Many thanks in advance,

David
