Riding Liberty State Park, Jersey City
I just moved to Jersey City, the section which is close to Liberty State Park. Still had no chance yet to explore fully the Liberty Park on my bike. Anyone has any tips for the best hours/routes to ride in the park? In addition, what's the most convenient route going north from the park to GWB / Route 9W/ Palisades?
New A ride for Sunday: Bash Bish Falls East - West
Take the 7:48 train to Wassaic from GCT, arrive 10:11 AM. Ride an east to west loop from Wassaic up Mt. Washington Rd. through Bash Bish / Copake Falls parks and the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. We'll stop for a picnic lunch at Bash Bish Falls. If time and weather permit, those interested can swim in the Copake Falls swimming area. Bring your lunch or try to get something in Salisbury, MA (mile 16).
Beat the rain this Thursday with a Fast Bergen Jaunt
New B-18 ride listed for Thursday July 4th. We'll take a fast B-ride out in a nice loop then stop for refreshments at a kosher restaurant in Teaneck before we head back up the Bergen Ridge for home. We'll stay together as a group until the final climb at which we will re-group at the top for a nice paceline back, and regroup back in Manhattan for a paceline back to the start. http://nycc.org/node/63641
Looking for Berkshires (Sheffield) rides July 7-14
I'm going to be in Sheffield with the Berkshire Choral Festival from July 7 to July 14. I have the NYCC Berkshires cue sheets and I'm planning to take some afternoon rides.
Mornings and evenings will be rehearsals, so time will be limited and my rides probably must begin and end in Sheffield. I'm hoping to do the Shorter Bash Bish ride one afternoon.
If anyone will be around there, please let me know and maybe we can get together.
Cabot Trail

small paint chip on carbon frame
should I be worried? do I need to do anything? the chip is tiny, maybe 2 square milimeters but I can see the "honeycomb" of the carbon composite. Am I totally overreacting?

Armstrong's argument rests on prevalence. It would be foolish for him to suggest that he would not be the strongest cyclist if none of the 186 cyclists he rode with used doping. Instead, he is arguing that the odds would be impossibly stacked against him if he were to compete against others without using the same performance enhancers they had
Ragbrai 2013
I am planning on doing this ride in three weeks. If anybody is interested the group I am riding with had four people dropout and has 4 wristbands and support available. If you are interested please post with contact information. Obviously it is kind of late to make those kinds of plans and commitment but if someone can it a great ride.
Recommendation for a good mini-pump?
Can anyone recommend a good mini-pump? Something that has a little stub that flips out so that I can hold it with my toe while I'm pumping along with a short bit of tubing, as opposed to the mini-pumps which attach directly to the wheel and require awkward one-handed pumping while holding the other end with the other hand. Also a gauge would be nice.
I'm not looking for the lightest mini-pump, but reasonably light is nice. Presta valve, although some method of adapting to schrader would be handy. Also I don't want something cheap that will break after a year - I'd like this pump to last a long time.
