Weekend Trip To Montreal May 31-June 2

Submitted by allan.b.friedma... on Thu, 05/09/2024 - 11:53pm

Hey all - you may know me as Ride Director of ENY since 2020... so I know a thing or two about escaping New York... Since 2014, I have been leading trips of various sizes to my home town in Montreal. I am putting one together for May 31-June 2. Friday night the city has Tour la Nuit - a closed-course night time ride where the locals cheer the riders on. Sunday, they have their Tour de L'ile. You'd have your choice of 25, 50, 75 or 100 KM rides... on Saturday? I'll take you on an informative tour of my home town. If you're interested in joining - please email me at [email protected] - Capacity is limited to 15 trippers. Hope you choose to join! Allan

GFNY Road Closure Information For Sunday May 19trh

Submitted by RSchmon on Thu, 05/02/2024 - 10:31pm

Following is information on how to navigate around the road closures during the Gran Fondo New York on Sunday, May 19th, 2024.  I have received this information from Uli Fluhme—co-founder and co-organizer of the event.

River Road (Henry Hudson Drive) and Hudson Terrace will be closed all day.

Therefore, cyclists will have to by-pass Hudson Terrace to and from the George Washington Bridge on the New Jersey side by using Bruce Reynolds Boulevard and Lemoine Avenue.

9W is as usual closed Northbound from Alpine to Nyack from 7am to 9.30am. The detour is Closter Dock Road down to Piermont Road / 340.

Submitted by lodgemich on Tue, 04/30/2024 - 11:19am

Hi,

I have a Thule bike rack that holds 2 bikes. I will gladly lend it to the cycler for Memorial Day weekend, if you will also take me and my bike to Great Barrington for the weekend.

Thanks, Michelle

Does your bike computer give you a false elevation gain crossing the GWB?

Submitted by RRosenthal on Mon, 04/29/2024 - 11:00pm

If I read my bike computer correctly, it credits me with elevation gain coming up from the Hudson River, meaning a very false elevation gain by day's end. Is that correct? If so, how many feet do you deduct to compensate for it?

Gravel trail (Hudson River Greenway) from Haverstraw to Nyack (Hook Mtn St Pk)

We're going to be scouting this week. I know that the trail is rough with a lot of rocks etc. Any recent problems we should be looking out for?

ISO Wireless computer (the simpler the better) with a sensor that works at over 30" distance to computer. My Padone+ is a disaster. Thanks.
