East River Greenway

Submitted by rherschkopf on Fri, 04/19/2024 - 4:42pm

I will be riding from midtown east to Whitehall Terminal/SI Ferry on Sunday and wanted to make sure that the East River Greenway is open @ Catherine Slip.  Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance.

RIP 3X club president, George Kaplan

George died this morning, age 93. I had dinner with him ten days ago and spoke with him last night. He was truly, literally as mentally sharp and as articulate as he was in the late 1980s when he joined the club. He died peacefully in his sleep. Anyone wanting to know the (Sunday) funeral arrangements, please write me. Bikeadman@gm...

At home Bike Fit?

Submitted by dbmonk on Thu, 04/18/2024 - 7:48am

I have an older friend who can only ride her peloton.  She desperately needs a fitting on that thing, as she's experiencing lots of aches and pains that are probably because of her position on the bike. Does anyone know of a fitter who would go to her?  Or who specializes in doing fittings with pelotons in their own studio?  I could then help my friend adjust her machine to the setting arrived at with fitter.

Many Thanks,

Dan

making reservations for train to Berkshires weekend

How do I make reservations for the train to the Berkshires for Memorial Day weekend?

Hello - I am doing the B16 SIG series (Puma team) and am using my vintage Colnago Super from 1978, one of my original racing bikes.  Needless to say, it is VERY heavy (26 lbs. as currently outfitted) compared to modern pro bikes, AND is limited to a 42x28 gear as its smallest.  (Only a new rear derailleur, new freewheel, and new crankset & chainrings would permit lower gearing in a 1:1 ratio).  I am handicapped on very hilly rides and can't imagine making it up Bear Mountain May 4 (the final ride in the SIG) on this bike.  The preceding two rides in the SIG series will be beyond brutal, as well.
