Northern NJ and NY routes

Submitted by Cyclingcoach on Sun, 11/21/2010 - 3:39pm

Sorry if I am asking a question that has been answered. I am not finding a way to search the message board archives.

I'm interested in more routes from the GWB and remember being on a ride new to me that the leader said was an NYCC ride. Are there any rides/routes/cue sheets that use northern NJ and possibly southern NY routes? I'm fairly familiar with the north/south running roads east of Sickletown and Strawtown, but this ride seemed to amble around further west. Perhaps around Westwood as far as Wyckoff and perhaps as far north as Saddle River. Anyone familiar with any rides/routes in that area?

Anyone else bringing a child to the holiday party?

Submitted by SParete on Sun, 11/21/2010 - 9:38am

I'd like to bring my daughter to the holiday party. She's in fifth grade and would be happy to have another kid to hang out with. She has two Nintendo DS's and plenty of games to share. Send me a note if you're bringing a child and maybe we can plan to find each other at the party.

Sanibel Island/Ft Myers Biking - Any Tips?

Submitted by JRudin on Sat, 11/20/2010 - 7:47pm

Hi All

Jen Rudin here. I'm planning to visit my folks for my annual trip this Christmas down to Sanibel Island Florida. Every year I ride their beach cruisers which are huge and rusty and clunky. This year want to step it up and do some serious cycling there. Any tips on good bike stores/bike rental/routes would be appreciated from anyone who has done any cycling there. I would happily bring my pedals....

You can reply here or send to me directly at [email protected]

Thanks, and fun to see so many folks at Runcible today!

Jen

Basic Nyack ride

Submitted by MelanieF on Fri, 11/19/2010 - 7:15pm

Ride is on. Meet at 9:00 89 and Riverside. Due to increased interest we will likely split into 2 groups. 17 and 18. Sign up not required, just show up. If anyone needs to cancel, or decides to do the newly listed Climbathon insttead (which is a great ride) no need to email me. We will assume all who show up are riding. Thanks. Melanie and Jen

Start late so some of whatever warmth the day has will have arrived. No Sneden's Landing, no Bradley, no Tweed, no Tallman; but as an offset for not dong those hills, the route takes in both Eisenhower AND Speer, both 14%.

See route at: http://goo.gl/maps/2Px2

One other "no." No lunch stop.

a few more notes:

if you're riding, notice that the start time is 11am. please bring pocket food b/c we most likely will not get to jacques torres in tribeca until 2pm. please also bring a lock. in the past, we've always brought our bikes into the entrance area, and i'm sure we can do it again. either way, we should lock our bikes in the entrance way and/or outside.
