On Sunday 6/19, "have some strawberries" with your century. The 5BBC's Mattituck Century ride is for distance riders seeking a nice route, fun times and a self-sufficient experience.

Brake lever help needed

I made the switch from a hybrid to road bike aout a year ago, and am finally getting miles on the new bike.  For the most part I love it, but I find that braking is a problem.  I feel like my hands aren't big enough to truly wrap around the brake levers so that I have good emergency braking control.  For example, while riding home form work yesterday a jogger decided to come off the sidewalk and into the bike lane on E90th Street near the park - without looking for oncoming bicycles, of course.  I saw him at the last second as he darted into the street andknocked me over.  Luckily there were no cars, so except for some road rash it wasn't a big deal.  BUT...I felt like I was reaching for the brakes, instead of quickly braking in response to the unex

B/C 15 rides this weekend?

Here's the deal folks.

I enjoy patching up tubes in my free time and when I Marshall on Charity rides or club rides give them to the uneducated. The only No tipping accepted BUT  I request they  pass the favor on and have the proper supplies next time.

 

Well a gracious club memeber has given me a project with a large slew of tubes that they have accumalated. Now I need a few more Patches & Glue if you have some to send my way.

Email me at the envelope on this thread so I can give directions how I can get it please.

 

Oh yeah, I will also takes tubes that are still usable.

TEARS

CUTS or Punctures by the Valve

DRIED Out.

Want to invest in the future of cycling?  Want to teach others of all ages how to ride, and put more New Yorkers on two wheels!?  You can learn how to do that this weekend!  This Saturday, from 12pm - 1pm, at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Bike New York is holding a training for new volunteers.

START: 8:50 AM at NY Penn Station-New Jersey Transit

FINISH: 7:09 at Dover NJT

LEADERS: Neile Weissman + TBA

WHAT: Due south from Middletown, NY across forty miles farmland and thirty miles mountain lake communities. Finish in Dover, NJ for the train back to Manhattan.

NOTES: Temps will be in the 80s and the first food stop is at 40 miles.  Bring sufficient water carrying capacity.  NO BAIL OPTIONS.

TERRAIN: Fairly hilly.  4800' climbing.
