membership difficulty

Submitted by mikeisriding on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 7:23pm

hello,

last night i signed up and paid the $22 online through paypal to be part of nycc.org.

i am having trouble logging into the site to find out about upcoming rides. there's no e-mail to acknowledge my membership.  Will someone advise me how to do this?  there aren't any contact phone numbers, and the links to those who have positions in the organization do not work from my apple computer (an ibook g4, i don't use apple/mac e-mail but rather yahoo/gmail).

thank you for your help in advance,

mike l.

Relatively new to riding but am considering doing the 50 mile Escape to New York ending in Piedmont.  Anyone familiar with the terrain of the route?

Help! Ride Routes from lower manhattan?

Submitted by Carden on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 10:23am

Hi,

We're just moving to Manhattan from Atlanta and are nervous about the ease/availability of rides without a car.  We’re aiming to live in the west village/Chelsea area, and really don’t want to have to get on a bus/train every time we want to do a ride.

Are there any rides that are long (40-50miles, or even a solid 25 miler would be ok) that traffic/congestion level will allow a steady pace of 18-25mph and that start from the Hudson river bike bath down in that area?  Would love to be able to walk out the door for a spur-of-the moment ride and not always have to make a pig production out of it.
