This year, the 8th Annual Tour de Foliage will take place on September 18th, beginning and ending at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY. Join us for a great event featuring 15 and 50 mile routes through the beautiful rolling hills of Westchester County.

All riders are served breakfast and lunch; each receives a Tour t-shirt, goody bag and are entered into a raffle to win fabulous prizes. This event benefits the Dysautonomia Foundation, which funds research and treatment for familial dysautonomia (FD), a rare genetic disorder affecting the sensory and autonomic nervous systems.

New York to Las Vegas Challenge 2012

Submitted by paulsingleton on Sun, 08/07/2011 - 12:20pm

Dear fellow cyclists

My name is Paul Singleton, I am from the Isle of Wight, a small island just off of the South Coast of Great Britain. I am contacting you firstly to introduce myself and to seek your advice. At this moment in time I am putting together a team to take a Cycle Challenge from New York to Las Vegas. We are planning to set out from New York in March 2012 and we need to be in Las Vegas by the end of April 2012.

The reason we are undertaking this challenge is to celebrate my son's 21st birthday which falls on the 2nd May. My son's name was Asa, unfortunately we lost him just over two years ago; it was his wish to go to Las Vegas for his 21st birthday to be able to legally play in the casino's!!

Inner tube valve length - how important is it?

Submitted by KBrady on Sun, 08/07/2011 - 10:07am

I just realized that my spare inner tubes have different valve lengths - either 48mm or 60mm - does it matter?

All tubes are for 700x23mm tires.

My attempts at taking care of my bike myself are foiled at every turn! Would love to be able to maintain and service my bike myself but every time I try and do something, there's an "issue"! Grrr...  Basic repair/maintenance book/info sources recommendations also welcome.

Pat's Greenport-Shelter Island-Sag Harbor and back Ride

Submitted by Sir Roger on Sat, 08/06/2011 - 10:40pm

Big thank you to Patrick Mullen and team for laying down the best ride. 5 Stars

A great day enjoyd by I think about 17 riders..We had a cloudy sunny cloudy sunny day.. four ferry rides and about 60 rolling miles. All expertly guided by Pat who has a great knowledge of the local terrain. It really makes one want to get out and explore more of the ends of the Island. The riding was superb .. mainly empty roads and beautiful scenery.

I unreservedly recommend to all club members that they start looking eastward for future rides. And keep an eye out for Patrick Mullen.. who knows mebee we will get another chance to join him on another one of his eastern jaunts

CANCELLED: August 6 Lincoln Tunnel Ride

Submitted by AGarcia on Sat, 08/06/2011 - 5:55pm

With wistful disappointment, sorry to say, tonight's annual ride to the Lincoln Tunnel is CANCELLED. There is forecasted thunderstorm activity between 9PM-11PM, which is not safe for cycling in such weather conditions.

I will personally WALK to the start point with an umbrella to inform people of the cancellation.

There might be a re-scheduled date. We'll wait and see.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the summer weekend.
