Bike insurance

Submitted by EGlicklich on Fri, 09/02/2011 - 11:15am

I'm shopping around for bike insurance - full coverage needed for my ride - "just in case."

Can anyone suggest a plan / provider?

Thanks!

Good evening:

Volunteers are deperately needed for the World Police/Firefighter Games on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3, in Central Park, East 79th Street entrance from 5:00 to 8:30 AM.  Due to Hurricane Irene all events had to be rescheduled.  This is the Cycling Street Bicycle Road Race.  Volunteers will be given free tee-shirts.  We will also try to give you WPFG Volunteer ID tags with the logo on it.

Please contact Virginia Mewborn, Vice President, [email protected], 917-670-8334 cell, directly. Please refer to this request when you do.

The Lost Art Of The Group Ride

^^^This.

Read it. Please.

If I were the sort of person who prayed I would be down on my knees palms a-facing and praying -- hard -- that everyone in the NYCC would not only read this article, but take it to heart and strive to incorporate it into their cycling.

But I'm not, so... I guess I can still hope.

Thank you Peter Wilborn for being able to succinctly articulate what I believe a cooperative group ride should be about.

Ticket query

Submitted by JMeyer on Thu, 09/01/2011 - 4:41pm

Hey Everyone,

Two weeks ago, I got a ticket for running a red light (on my bike) on River Road. The cop told the group I was with that we only had to pay $50, and wouldn't get any points on our license. He suggested pleading guilty and sending in $25, and said that the worst that could happen was that we would receive a bill for the balance. I followed his advice, and today received a bill for $245. I've been looking around at different accounts online, and can't find a straight answer - how much is the fine? What can I do now? Was the officer wrong?

Thanks for any advice... I'm leaving the country in about a week and so can't schedule a court date. This is a real bummer.

I don't know what the duration of the closings will be but if you are planning to cycle there in the near future you might check PIPC at Bear Mtn.
