How to handle delivery cyclist
I have been debating this for a while and the more i think about it the more proactive i want to be.
As most of you on hear have experienced, delivery cyclist violate two laws 1) they ride motorized bikes (aka motorcycles) 2. they ride the wrong way on streets/bike lanes.
When i see this, i want to just go over to the person and try to give them some common sense. But typically, i just do my best to avoid them (usually by going into traffic) and swear under my breath while shaking my head.
Central Park Road closure on 30 Sept 2011
Does anyone know if the CP road closure this Friday 30 Sept is automobiles only, or if it also includes bicycles?
long time NYCC member & ride leader Mindy Kaufman released an excellent CD last month

With string accompaniment (all female). Mindy is a critically acclaimed flutist and piccolist with the NY Philharmonic Orchestra since 1979. The CD is on Amazon.com.
Putnam Trail Poll & Letter Campaign
Fellow NYCC members:
NYC Parks Dept has plans to finally pave the Putnam Trail within Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. This plan will connect Bronx greenways and bike lanes to the South County Trail and beyond, providing more options for bike recreation and commuting. These plans are in the final stages of approval, but there's growing opposition. Even though the plan would accommodate all users, including cyclists, runners, roller-bladders, carriages and wheelchairs, some would prefer the trail to remain unpaved and much narrower than planned. Federal regulations require it to be a minimum of 10 ft wide and paved. Federal funding would be lost if the opposition gets their way. In effect, cancelling the project.

Dear NYCC members,
I read the local press for you.
This is a column about politics and I would never, ever impose politics on our bike club message board readers, so I cite just the opening of the column:

I care not one bit...but I do care about, i.e. object to, the source of some of the money USAC spends on this--and my dyspepsia is unrelated to the finishing places. If the US took 1-9 I'd feel the same.
