Knee Doctor recommendation needed

Can anyone recommend a good orthopedist or sports doctor in NYC who specializes in knees?  Thanks in advance.

PSA: Stop salmoning, else prepare to be ticketed

Submitted by D-Rod on Fri, 09/30/2011 - 1:19pm

As I dodged smelly #OccupyWallStreet protesters on the walk from the subway today (left the bike at home), an idiot cycling the wrong way on Broadway barreled into me while I crossed the street.

Fortunately I escaped with a minor scratch on my hand, and I'm wearing dark jeans so the tire marks don't show. All the same, it was a reminder that, yes indeed, we do share the roads with pedestrians and should always follow the direction of traffic. Else walk bikes on the sidewalk.

Anyway, I applaud the NYPD's recent efforts to cut down on salmoning on what's actually a not-so-great intersection leading into the bike path of the Williamsburg bridge:

Do you need a 2012 UCI World Tour, International, and Olympic Calendar?

Submitted by e.larsen on Fri, 09/30/2011 - 12:32am

Hi,

CyclingTips posted a bunch of UCI information the other day and I decided to feed that into Google Calendar. If you're interested, here's a 2012 schedule for World's, UCI International and the Olympic race dates:

You can either add it to your Google Calendar or send it to whatever calendar program you use.

Cold Spring via Greenwood Lake - Ride is ON; GPS link attached

Submitted by GKeresteci on Fri, 09/30/2011 - 12:23am

Attached is a link for Saturday's Cold Spring ride.  It is a georgeous 87 mile route with some serious climbing (~6000 ft of vertical).  Depending on how we are doing timing wise, we may also add the Perkins climb to the route.

This will not be a hammer ride.  Excellent rotating paceline skills mandatory. We will keep the pace smooth and moderate (no more than 21-22 mph on the flats) and ease up on the rollers so that we can enjoy the beautiful scenery.

There is a chance of light rain on Saturday, therefore you may want to bring a light shell.  Also, don't forget to bring some pocket food and your Metro North pass.  See you on Saturday morning.

The below link has a collection of photos from Sakura Park at the end of the ride.  I tried to be a little less critical on image selection to capture a wider range of people.  Let me know if you want a higher resolution image.

Nice article in Times about fixed gear bikes in Paris. Think Maggie's retro rides without gears.

I esp like the idea of taping a baguette to the top tube.
