Morning laps in Central Park
The ride is still on, despite the disruption caused by Marathon preparations. I will be at Engineer's Gate at 5:45, as advertised. We will wait a few minutes to make sure that everyone who intends to come gets there. If the bottom of the park is closed or too difficult to navigate, we will make a decision tomorrow whether to do a few hill repeats or cut across at 72nd street rather than go around the southern section of the park.

Morning lap conditions in the Park
Morning in the Park – whoa – it’s an obstacle course. The lower loop on the West Side – 72nd street south past Tavern on the Green – be careful - go slow - lots of bleachers being set up for the marathon, finish line being built, painting on the roadway, people, lots and lots of people. Then, for significant stretches of the entire roadway in the Park, a lane is closed filled with debris from Saturday’s storm. At the bottom of the hill nearby Lasker Pool was that familiar family of raccoons. Runners all over getting ready for the big day Sunday. My group started at 6:00 AM in the dark of night. 3 laps later, it was still pitch black out. Then, on the Upper East Side, there
Central Park Drive Condition 2 NOV 11
The Park drive was interrupted -- so that cyclists had to get off the drive altogether and circle around -- at three places. One is at the former Tavern on the Green site (for the Marathon) and the other two are in connection with tree pruning, either on account of the storm or for the marathon. They are currently at the south-east corner of the park drive and a little further north on the east side of the drive, aboiut 65th street.
