Lance Armstrong And All That

Submitted by 4seingalt on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 12:16am

It is time for a solution to be found with respect to Lance Armstrong. Cycling and the regulatory bodies must stop, think and find a reasonable solution that accommodates all parties that were subject to the drug hunts. Some of us are not fans of Mr. Lance Armstrong but, a great champion is a great champion. Stripping Lance Armstrong would serve no purpose. The suits, regulatory bodies, drug agencies, courts, prosecutors, labs etc. have to get it together and stop preying on the cyclists in internecine turf and dollar wars. Our thoughts and prayers are with Floyd Landis, Tyler Hamilton, Jan Ulrich, Fillipo Simeone and the others.

General warning about downed power lines

Submitted by tfan on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 7:55pm

Hi. Today I went for a spin upstate and a section of 9w was closed due to an accident, the cops let bikes through. There was downed power lines on the road, the cops told me that if you ever come across downed power lines, do not go within 30 feet of them, it's very dangerous. I had no idea that even being near them was dangerous, so, watch out.

Todays ride was great, I'm pretty new to biking and I've gone on long rides the last couple of weeks. The hills around west point are tough. Beautiful day for riding.

July 4th in Cold Spring with NYCC

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 5:23pm

Just because July 4th is a Wednesday this year, doesn’t mean the NYCC isn’t going to have fun. There’s going to be an All Class Club ride starting and ending in Cold Spring, New York. Jody and Christy have a house in Cold Spring – this will be “headquarters” for the day’s activities. A, B, and C rides will start and finish at our house. And . . . .and. . . . .and. . . . .

Hot off the presses! We are thriiled to announce that Gran Fondo NJ, as promised, has offered a special NYCC 33% discount for entry into Gran Fondo NJ or Medio Fondo NJ, if you sign up in May. Please see the e-mail, copied below, which I just received from Bill Ruddick, Gran Fondo NJ Ride Director. Also, I wish to sincerely thank Bill, Marty Epstein (owner of Marty's Reliable Cycles) and Carine Joannou (owner of Jamis Bicycles) for their generous sponsorship of last night's exciting NYCC meeting. It was truly a memorable "standing room only" event.

"As promised, here is the info for the discount coupon, and hotel deals for Gran Fondo NJ 2012.
