Does anyone know any nutrition experts that I can meet one to one to discuss eating and drinking during endurance events.
Thanks
NOT headed to the Berkshires this weekend? Join us in August!
Here's an affordable, convenient, and super-friendly bike tour this August for those of you who love (or would like to be introduced to) the Berkshires! The 6th Annual Mass BikePike Tour explores western Mass and the Berkshires for four fantastic days of riding and socializing. The Mass BikePike Tour is good for families or friends who travel at different speeds – there’s everything from super-short routes to an optional ride up Mt. Greylock.
It's not too far from NYC but still feels like quite a vacation!
Route to Calverton Cemetary (near Riverhead, LI) from the City needed. for Mon. ride
I have no experience regarding Long Island cycling (crazy, I know) and the route sheets in the archive are helpful but not specific to this route. I would plan to start at the Statue of Civic virtue or some other appropriate subway-accessible point at the edge of the City. I'm looking for a direct route and will not be tempted to sight-see or sit on the beach, at least not this time. I'm also not looking to cllimb any more hills than required. Is the Northern route better, or the Southern; would there be more traffic on the south side? Calverton is more northerly - pretty much due West of Riverhead. I would be leaving the City as early as possible and getting a ride back home. Also, I'm old-school, no GPS onboard. Any thoughts appreciated.
A-STS
A big big thanks to all my fellow riders for a brilliant STS series this year. I really enjoyed riding with all of you, the beautiful routes, mild weather and good company not to mention the motivation of seeing you receeding into the distance on hills to keep me training mid-week. Its not just me, my heart, lungs, legs and liver thank you too. The decision to miss the last ride for a friends wedding was a wrenching one but maybe its better to leave with a sense of unfinished business as I know I'll see you all on the road again soon.
Alan.
Garmin Edge 800 Question
Has anyone else noticed that it takes a really long time for the Garmin Edge 800 to find enough satellites to start feeding you data? Is there a way to speed the process?
Berkshires question - do we ride rain or shine?
Was just checking the weather report for tomorrow and see a chance of isolated thunder showers all afternoon for the Sheffield area. For those taking the train up will we be riding rain or shine or will we just take the train all the way up if it's raining?
Thanks
hammer heed energy drink
Do you use hammer heed? it says it's also a good source of electrolytes. On bike rides of 100 miles and more, do you reccommend additional electrolytes or would heed suffice. I'm new to this, many thanks.
