Has anyone scoped out Prospect Park? Still reported closed on the website, but I wonder if the east drive from the Lincoln Road entrance up to GAP is passable, with care, to cyclists. Hoping to commute into Manhattan tomorrow, and my alternate path would probably be up Bedford to Eastern Pkwy, then west to pick up my usual route. If I don't hear back before tomorrow, I'll just check it out and backtrack if necessary!

some stretches of 9W and some roads near Piermont seem to be ok.  Many other roads have branches or whole trees down, much debris on shoulders and if the power is on, heavy traffic congestion and gas lines.  River Road is closed to all traffic indfinitely (probably for a long time!)

I am not sure how happy the locals  who have been waiting on gas lines with water in their basements, etc will be to see a group of cyclists coming on their debris strewn and congested streets

I am planning to ride around the area in the next 2 days and make a decision about possible cancellations. Unless we advise the folks who have signed up for the rides that they will definitely go, you can assume they have been cancelled.

I will check out the viability of River Rd on Friday.  My guess is, it will be cleaned up of larger debris, but if there's too much mud we'll take a different route.  It will still be a fun ride, though we may climb E. Clinton from 501 or Hillside to 9W.  Don't worry, I'll find a good hill to replace Alpine if need be...and we'll still be back by noon!

I just checked the Central Park website and it appears that the park will be closed on Thursday Nov. 1. The message on the website is that they are working hard to get ready for the marathon and want people to stay out of the park until further notice.

Let's hope we can ride on Tuesday the 6th. We can do 3 or 4 laps and still get home in time to vote before work.

CP is Closed so they can remove fallen trees and limbs. Additionally going through areas to remove hanging branches or take down weak trees.

The NY Post said about 30% of the deaths during Sandy were attributed to Trees or limbs falling
