Pushpins on 9W

Submitted by jadebaileyassam on Mon, 12/03/2012 - 4:29pm

Hi everyone, passed many pushpins on 9W on my way to Piermont this morning, specifically between the towns of Tenafly and Alpine. Didn't take the road back to the GWB, not sure if they're on the other side as well.

My Ticket Was Dismissed!

Submitted by RPu on Mon, 12/03/2012 - 2:29pm

Back in August, I was issued a $75 ticket for going through a red light in Central Park. In November, I spent about two hours at the courthouse for what I take to be the arraignment.

This morning, I'm happy to report, the ticket was dismissed because the issuing cop failed to appear. A lawyer in the courtroom, who was a former cop, said that there is a fair chance that the cop won't appear. He may have to appear elsewhere on a more serious matter; or if he's on vacation, the NYPD won't pay him the overtime needed to get him to testify. But if he's not doing something special, he will appear.

MADRID (Reuters) - The Spanish cycling federation (RFEC) has elected Jose Luis Lopez Cerron, the man who delivered the beef to Alberto Contador that the rider said led to him testing positive for clenbuterol in 2010, as its new president.

Lopez Cerron, a former professional cyclist and organizer of Spain's Tour of Castilla and Leon, was voted in at an assembly in Madrid on Saturday, the RFEC said on its website (www.rfec.com).

The 56-year-old bought the allegedly contaminated meat in Irun, a town on Spain's north-west border, before taking it to Astana's team hotel in Pau, France where it was eaten by Contador on the 2010 Tour de France's second rest day.

Riding Partner (or more!) On Weeknights?

Submitted by jenpoirier on Sat, 12/01/2012 - 3:54pm

Hi, I'm very new to the club so I'm not sure if it's ok to post a want-ad in the message boards, so if it isn't please excuse me.  Anyway, my work schedule is not compatable with a lot of the group rides and I was wondering if anyone would like to meet in the Central Park for some laps on weeknights after work.  I am pretty new to riding, but in good shape and would probably ride with the B group if I could ever make a group ride.  I'm in for riding with an A on a slow day (or on a normal day if I want to go fast!), or a C for company and an easy pace.  Basically I have no friends who ride bikes and am dying to make some.  Thanks and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Greg LeMond wrote the NYCC (20 years ago)

Submitted by RRosenthal on Sat, 12/01/2012 - 3:40am

If e-mail had been around 20 years ago, I wouldn't have this...which I just found. This was read to the club at the February, 1992 meeting.

If you don't know who Greg LeMond is you could be pre-Alzheimer's. That, or wayyy too young for me to know.

And, no, he no longer lives/does business at the address on the letterhead so if you want to thank him for standing up to Lance, you'll have to write him in Wyzata, MN.
