late listing for Sunday: Wykagl lunch

Submitted by DHudes on Thu, 01/03/2013 - 1:16am

My schedule for this Sunday was changed this morning. The forecast is for a high of 41F and no rain/snow and I can't pass that up so join me for a B-17+ ride of about 47 miles and about 2000 feet of climbing on a ride to New Rochelle for lunch at Grill Point, a tasty glatt kosher restaraunt.

River Road

As of today (Tuesday) it was very rideable, but there is one really slushy spot (where the large waterfall is on the left) and a few other smaller slushy spots.  Still in all, fewer cars and nicer views.

Queensboro bridge Conditions 12/31

Submitted by Rmarcus on Mon, 12/31/2012 - 2:57pm

Coming from Manhattan towards Queens all seemed fine until you are actually above the river. Once that happens the  entire span becomes  a sheet of ice, EXCEPT a pathway along the fence which is the outer portion away from the cars. This small pathway is VERY usable as long as there are few bikers of pedestrians.

I trully doubt any melt for days and there was no sign of DOT salting the bike/walkway. This bridge is always bad due to the fact that the sun swings away after about 9am.

Not sure yet how I will go home and really do not want to go South to the WillyB and will shoot myself before I take the Triboro and the steps. I am sure that would be the worse of options.

Monday Burnin' off the Holiday Calories ride

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Sun, 12/30/2012 - 5:47pm

We are a "go" but the winds are still between 14-17 today, so the speed will be adjusted accordingly.  If you're out to hammer, this ride is not for you!  See you at 11.
