Looking for a Ride to the Berks on Friday, May 24

Submitted by RKastrinsky on Fri, 05/10/2013 - 3:20pm

Hi All,

I'm looking for a ride to the Berkshires on Friday, May 24th- only looking for a 1 way trip.  Unfortunately I have to work that day and probably can't leave until 4 or 5pm in the afternoon at the earliest.  My bike and bag already have transportation up to the Berks so this is simply a request to transport myself from Manhattan to the Berkshires on Friday evening.

Please let me know if you have any space available.

You can contact me at: [email protected]

Thanks,

  Rachel

Ever "loose" two miles?

Submitted by velofellow on Fri, 05/10/2013 - 1:06pm

Do any of you occasionally “loose” two miles while riding along 9W?  Sometimes, when I got out for a 50 mile ride, my CatEye wireless computer will show 48.  Other times I’ll go out for a 60 and it will show 58.  This occurs on known routes which routinely come up as 50 and 60 milers.  I don’t expect the distance shown on screen to be exactly equal and consistent for every ride of 50 or 60 miles, but an occasional two mile difference seems odd to me.  I don’t recall this happening on shorter rides, so I think whatever may be causing the interference is located north of Nyack.  Any ideas?

help - need recommendations on bike trailers

Submitted by EGlicklich on Thu, 05/09/2013 - 2:09pm

Asking for a friend:

Does anyone have experience with bike trailers? Trying to find a good double (for 2-year old twins) that can also fold down and store into a closet. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

...which essentially combines a long run and a visit to the weight room into about seven minutes of steady discomfort — all of it based on science.

Jenny's Big Ride Across America

Submitted by jennyp14 on Wed, 05/08/2013 - 2:04pm

Hey fellow NYCCers!

My name is Jenny and for 7 weeks this summer I will be riding from Seattle, WA to Washington, DC with the American Lung Association. I joined NYCC this past fall when I signed up for the Big Ride because at the time I knew nothing about cycling. I just finished the C-SIG and have training hard the past few months. I am looking forward to staying active with the club long after my Big Ride is over and hopefully getting to know even more of you.

I am trying to raise $6500 for the American Lung Association before I leave for my trip on June 17th. If anyone is interested in donating you can do so here:

HELP! Can't find Purple Extreme in the city

Submitted by ERayvid on Wed, 05/08/2013 - 10:31am

Who's got my Purple Extreme chain lube?

Anyone know where I can get some in the city? I've tried all the shops on the UWS, went down to Sid's and even ventured into *shudders* Paragon . . .

Anyone know of an LBS that's stocking this product?

Thanks!
