Thanks for your emails about the weather forecast.  The forecast is for possibly an isolated thunderstorm.  This is not a reason to cancel a ride, since it's "isolated" and who knows where it will be.  However, if it worries you, please withdraw from the ride sooner rather than later. 

We will watch the forecast and put an update on the message board if it changes.

Both Churchill and Buckingham have been milled for repaving.  This is good news for the long term, but you may not want to take either road this weekend.  Not sure when they'll be finished.

Anyone interested in a simple Nyack ride at an A/B18 pace on any day or days of LaborDay weekend?

I reported this to 311 and 911:

A metal construction plate has shifted along its entire length, revealing a 5-6" gap (perhaps over a foot deep). A car would drive over it but a bike would go right into it. It's on Fifth between 27th and 28th, between the left and middle lanes.  

I hope it's fixed by the time you're reading this, because it could cause a catastrophic accident. A lot of bikers use the left lane on Fifth. In general, I avoid these plates.

Does anyone have suggestions for where I could find a cyclocross with 32-35mm tires or wider for a full day ride?

I'd be happy to rent if the cost isn't too high, but I'd prefer to borrow for the day if possible.

I sometimes commute from Manhattan to Great Neck, and got a ticket today, 8/27, going eastbound on 58th Ave at Underhill Ave, for passing a stop sign. It was an unmarked police car. The ticket fine is $138! The officer said a lot of people have been hurt at that intersection. I think I'm going to plead not guilty and hope the officer skips the hearing. Does anyone have any advice, pay or plead not guilty?

NYCC does not permit the posting of evening rides in the park, so consider this is the "formal invitation." 

Clip in and roll out at 7:30pm Wednesday from the Boathouse for three laps along with some Harlem Hill Loops mixed in. Followed by beer and burritos on the outdoor patio at Chipotle on 52nd between Lex and Third. 

An email stating your intension to participate, while not required, would be welcomed.           

***We will break up intp two groups this week (B18 and A20/21) starting together at the Boathouse and meeting up again for a beer and buritto after laps.
